I remember radio ads for Amazon in the early 2000's where the theme was a guy looking for a warehouse big enough to hold their book inventory.

Please don't repost if your question does not appear immediately: all six of these went to moderation and required a human being to review them for publication. In order to prevent you being kicked off as a spammer, they all had to be accepted, and then I have to clean up the spares. Have a little patience, please!
I've deleted the other copies.

I'd file a dispute with the credit card issuer, and issue a charge-back if it were me. Amazon can go stick it up their rear with attitude like that. It's not the amount of money, but I'm not going to be cheated like that.

Amazon will probably stuff it up yours by terminating your account over the chargeback.

Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

I'd just create another amazon account (if I want one). But they're not going to get away with making a fool out of me. If you cheat me, I'll come after you.

Better hope they're not thorough about blocking people; your credit records will tie whatever card you use on your current account and whatever card you try to use on a replacement back to your identity. If they ban people, not just accounts, you won't be able to do an easy end run.

Yeah, I don't think they'd go that far. Besides, I could generate an unlimited number of virtual card numbers within my bank account. Identity? They'd have my identity my a*$e. They ship items to my po box and don't know my surname. They don't have my address, and don't have my phone number (not a real one anyways).

Ironic you'd phrase it like that. I'm not "doing an easy and running" if they failed to take action after I report having been cheated. They're the ones expecting to do an easy and run, but that won't work with me.
You're also talking as if an amazon account is my passport. I treat it as a disposable entity.

Did you just post a couple of replies to me and then delete it?!

Yes. I just decided to rather use the book Modern X86 Assembly Language Programming by Daniel Kusswurm, published by Apress. You can access the book's source code online unrestricted - no need for access codes. I have always had good experiences with Apress books. They really pick good authors for their books.
Too many retailers here seem to sell the Indian issue of Irvine's book. The access codes given in the Indian version of the book don't seem to work in the USA and I don't feel like typing all the sources files.

Yeah, my question was why do you post a message here and then delete it? You did that twice.

I just changed my mind - twice.

Just file an A-z claim. State that the product you received was not the domestic product you ordered, but an Indian version. The seller will be forced to refund you.

Thanks, the company has issued me with a return label, but I must pay the postage.
|
|

No, that is not how it works -- they cannot force you to pay the return shipping. If they sent the wrong item it is on them to pay the return shipping. (I am a longtime Amazon seller and I know their rules.) By "wrong" in this case of course I mean not the domestic edition of that book, which is what you purchased and what you expected.
Write the seller back and tell them that you expect to receive a postpaid return label or you will file an A-z claim. If they hesitate at all just stop communicating with them and file the claim, saying what happened - that you received an Indian version of the book rather than domestic, and the seller is requiring you to pay return shipping, which you should not have to do.

Exactly! So it looks like a case where the OP had no clue as to how amazon works. I was a bit surprised when the OP said that that amazon just shrugged off, because that's never been my experience.

When a third party merchant sells through Amazon, Amazon accepts their return policy. I have seen a few cases where the seller refuses any and all returns, and Amazon still allowed them to sell on their website.
In this case the merchant accepted returns, provided you paid for the postage. I am not going to kick up a stink for the sake of a $15 book. In any case: I have decided to keep the book as future reference material.

As I said, it's not about $15, but about principle. If you cheat me, I'll come after you and make sure that you'll not pull that with me again. Of course, for each his own.
