Destroying a country's cultural heritage is fairly standard for psychopaths,
Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin and others have done this throughout history.
By removing references to the people's cultural past these psychos then try and 're-educate' the population with their ridiculous megalomaniacal 'year-zero' ideas.
History shows that it doesn't work in the long run.
It does show what a bunch of uneducated oafs, amongst other qualities, this particular bunch are.

What's really lucky is that there just happened to be a super-spy photographer at the site!
Aren't we incredibly fortunate that he wasn't out trying to photograph things of military interest!
Why do I feel like I'm being bullsh1tted?
Anyone wanna bet against the guys in sheets being western stooges (possibly on a hastily re-worked moonscape set)?
What's most frightening is that:
0. People who are in the right don't need to lie
1. These tiswas characters appear to be nasty enough that there's no need to lie about them.
2. Despite 1 & 2, we're still seeing more bullsh1t than truth.
And everyone wonders why kids, who are just finding their feet and looking for what's right for them, are turning away from the bullsh1t and toward tiswas.

No spying involved. The video was published by ISIS. They are bragging about how they are destroying these terrible (from their point of view) things. The rest of the world does not consider these ancient artifacts to be so terrible.
Just because the code works, it doesn't mean that it is good code.

Tragic, but nothing new. It's just history repeating itself. We've had Iconoclasts[^] in Europe and America too. I think most recently somewhere around 1940? Hitler destroyed thousands of pieces of Jewish or degenerate art[^]. Even now art stolen during WWII is missing and found.
To me it only shows, once again, that human stupidity has no boundaries.

I think it was Einstein who said that two things are infinite: The Universe and Human Stupidity. And he wasn't sure about the Universe.
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

It's not a tragedy - it's a crime!(*)
All humans are destined to die some day, but art is immortal.
(*)This does not mean that their crimes against Humanity should be ignored. It only adds to the docket.

I have a comment I need to make on a old post of mine (turns out I was right) but my oldest post I can find dates back to 2009. I think the message I'm looking for is dated 2007/8.
Are these still available somehow?

It took you eight years to realize you were right?
And you still remember an argument after eight years?
I dunno if that's impressive or disconcerting.

Disconcerting
Once you lose your pride the rest is easy.

New information has recently come to light, I also can't remember who I was debating it with at the time.

why you do not live in the present and let the past be the past?
I know that, I'm the same idiot, but I'm working on it !

No, but isn't that post funny today!

What was that post about? It is really easy to find it through Google or CP search.

Then start a new thread ("Hey, Numbnuts! You were wrong wrong wrong WRONG Nyaa-naa-naa!" or some-such).
If you add something to an 8-yr-old thread, it will sit in the 8-yr-old box, way at the back.

Yes, but the other person will get an reply email notification. In starting a new thread a lot of context will be lost, that and I can't remember who the guy was.

BTW, if the guy you were right against was DD, don't bother -- everyone knows he's always wrong.

Yeah, you go and show 'em who's right!
Also don't forget to call them names and insult their mothers
You could use the search bar in the top right corner and search for some keywords from your post.
I assume you know what you were talking about back then.
