I remember my first VB project. Until that point I hadn't even looked at VB, in school I went from Pascal to C++, then Java, and stuck with C based languages.
Politely pointed out that I might not be the best choice from the pool of developers as I did not have VB on my resume, didn't know VB, had never worked in it, and didn't understand it.
My PHB replied that since I knew C# and Java so VB should be easy by comparison. He then went on to assign a project deadline based on his reading of chicken bones.

Well, yes, surely it's easier to forget how to code than it is to learn how to!
PHB's can be so much smarter than they seem (admittedly that's still not remotely smart in the conventional sense of the word).

Yes. Yes he will. Sometimes I write

Isn't that the truth! I looked at the code, and I'm thinking ewwww and that's just with the syntax.

I have a feeling we may see some new posts at the Weird and Wonderful forum...which imho should be renamed WTE! as that's more in line with the content.
So, at least you got the VB6 IDE to work. Hopefully you aren't stuck with a bunch of third-party dependencies. Good luck!

If you can't even handle VB, it's time to practice your burger-flipping techniques.

If you can handle VB6, you can handle anything.
Those who can, do. Those who cannot, teach. Your burgerflippers are the part that fail even at teaching.

VB6 wasn't a bad tool. I could do pretty much anything I needed to with it, there was a lot of business apps as well as things like assemblers, game emulators and useful utilities written in VB6. I'm sure at one point I saw a VB6 first edition of UnrealEd floating around.
VB.NET on the other hand, well, you may as well use C#, I find converting VB6 across to C# quite therapeutic, I don't think I'm a sadist...
