Seems like a good way to totally ruin a steak! charcoal broiled is much better for almost everything!

You'd be surprised!
You can - and it's a damn good idea - finish the steak off on a charcoal grill, or in a very hot pan (this starts the Maillard reaction[^] and is as important to steak as the internal cook) but what it guarantees is that the internal cook of the meat is precisely correct: no more grey leather or unexpected tartare.
And because you target proteins you end up with Rump flavour and Fillet texture: you don't lose the marbling and juices to the charcoal where the flavour is lost.
And chicken Sous Vide is always moist and cooked through!
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

I tried to do a quick search, but unable to calculate the age of that light based on the redshift. If it's so far, it must be really old, and really near Big Bang age.
|
|
|
|
|
|
I found that, but I'm too ignorant to use it well...
There is no redshift to year straight conversion with "default" variables as perceived by Earth.
|
|
|
|
|
You can enter the given redshift (1.5 as per the web page) and click "age" - this gives:
Quote: Age of the universe: 4.2879 Gyr, which is 31% of the age of the universe today.
Lookback time: 9.489 Gyr.
It is just about 9.489 billion light years (gyr == gigayear) distant - feel free t convert that to feet and inches!

Ok, thanks.. I did not realize that those links were actually functionalities of the calculator.
The boxed inputbox over gave me the idea that everything was there on the top and that's all.

Simply store everything in GMT as explained in school?
Love your signature; it explains damn well why people are still having trouble with dates and times.

UTC (GMT) is good if you are talking about date+time... However if you want to say it will happened on the second day of the third week at eight?
You store 288000 or '08:00'? Or what?

A "time" is part of a "date"; one does not store time (because it is not an atomic piece of information), one stores the exact date and time (in GMT).

Nice theory... You just lost a job opportunity ...
But really... I have a feature, called, meta-course... In this you only have weeks, days and hours - no date... Now I have to export it to an other system... They do not understand meta-time

There is - and skip the rest if you are only fooling around - the joke on me
Imagine a course in basic algebra... You have all... the resources... the meetings... all... Except starting date... The reason you have no starting date is that this is a repeating course... There is a course every second month...
This is a meta-course... with meetings defined as 1st week 1st day 10:30-12:00... no date!
When you decide that a course will begin on the second veek of October the 2019, the system creates a real-course from the meta by copying all the meetings and changing weeks and days into real dates...

It is of course, nonsense to plan things that way; you'll find that those planned dates have exceptions, due to holidays. That's why I am expensive

It maybe nonsense, but all course-based teaching systems are working like this - and I'm there for more than 20 years...
An after all these years, all the exceptions are taken into account when turning meta-course to real-course...
The point is after all - there is a creature called time, that stands without date... But - as we all know - not all know about it...

..and you can calculate it upfront, and give a warning if it is a holiday.
