Google's new AI architecture could turn machine learning systems from one-trick ponies into much more versatile and insightful programs. So it can take over all the banking systems, calculate pi, and exterminate everyone at the same time!

The Oracle JDK is available free of charge for production use again - under the new "Oracle No-Fee Terms and Conditions" (NFTC) license. Just in time for me to continue to ignore it

I am not a gamer, but for fun I picked up Nioh when it was a freebie (it might still be?). Was surprised when C drive almost overflowed! God, was I ever out of the loop! Can't really complain about VS after that, except complaining is so much fun!

Just three weeks after its initial public launch, Windows 11 is already on almost 5 percent of PCs out in the world, according to AdDuplex. Or around that corner anyway

Once again, Windows gets more installations on non-servers in less than a month than Linux has.

Yes, but this is the year of Linux Desktop.

This makes the 3rd version of Windows I've refused to install on my machines. I'm still here. My code is still relevant.

Subverted libraries likely intended as a prank but should be taken seriously, say security researchers I guess it's a good thing Roblox has been down?
Isn't that the 'large LEGO for little hands' stuff?

Actually had to look this up since I thought the same. They were Mega Bloks and a Canadian company. Before that, there were Tyco Blocks (which were rather terrible.)

No, that's Duplo. (And probably various compatible brick copycats.)
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

As spotted by Naked Security, the Yum repository for Edge now lists stable builds of the browser alongside the previously available Dev and Beta releases. Finally, it's the Year of being able to browse on Linux

"Stable"? Is that a place where you keep your horses? Why would you keep Edge together with them?

The Oscar winning screenwriter of ‘Dune’ writes in an MS-DOS program that can only hold 40 pages in memory. Upgrading is the mind killer
|
|
|
|
|
The full version:
I must not upgrade.
Upgrading is the mind-killer.
Upgrading is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my upgrade.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the upgrade has gone there will be nothing. Only MS-DOS will remain.
Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.
