hi,
You can use "System.IO.File.ReadAllText(path of ur txt file)" to copy the contents of the file in a "TextBox". Then remove the line u want to remove and save the file using "System.IO.File.WriteAllText(path of ur txt file, TextBox1.Text)".

What does this or your other question have to do with Windows Forms ( C#/VB.NET/C++/CLI ) ? Unless you're using the .NET framework, you're in the wrong place.

Hi,
If I am looking at developing a new windows forms Application VB.Net 2005 Some Things to look at is why not develope it in a alone standing exe why all these DLLS, What would be the best Architeture using Plain windows forms application to connect to a central data source with massive data being transfered to the client or using dot net remoting ??
Well I am new to the windows applications arena any help would be appreciated.

Just like a web app, if you've got serious database work going on, it's best to build a data layer, which will be in a dll. The business rules I'd be less likely to put in a dll, if I was writing a windows app, but I would use namespaces to create that seperation still.

If you must favour a single application, then you should still follow Christian's advice below, and keep your data access and business logic in separate classes, used by your forms. Basically, all your forms should do is respond to UI events, and populate controls.

Have you tried one of Microsoft's own best practices such as Enterprise Library 3.1 that combined with Composite UI Application Block (CAB)? This will provide you the best practices, application blocks and hence, good architecture (which is already used and tested by others) to start.

Yes, just handle the mouse events and move the control as the mouse moves.

Have you tried it this.Icon=null ?

Does the code "this.Icon = null;" works with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2002
|
|
|
|

Or have you tried setting the ShowIcon property to false :->

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a library that has photo realistic controls for .NET Forms.
Here are the libraries I've found so far:
perpetuum's Instrumentation Widgets™[^]
Software Toolbox .NET Components[^]
Dundas Gauge[^]
These are impressive libraries, however they contain many controls I don't need. Basically, I just need a good knob and maybe a slider (thinking about writing them myself).
Also, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good program for creating background textures, something that will add an extra bit of realism, such as a metal or plastic texture behind the controls.

In case you need two controls, I'd recommend creating them yourself... It takes about 2 hours max. each for an experienced developer to fully create and quickly test the control and you're done. Saves you a lot of money. However we use Infragistics[^] controls which are very impressive!

I am developing a Service to run on a server machine but have a few questions. I have two services within my solution in VS 2005. I have created a project installer and this has two Service Installers and these are tied up to two Service Process Installers.
First question is this. Do I need one to one with these or can I have them both pointing to one Process Installer.
Currently I can install the services and start them on my machine. One works fine. The other doesn;t seem to run. I have tried debuging it by attaching to the process, but it never seems to start, although I can see it is started in the Service configuration screen.
Any ideas why this one isn't starting??
That's it for now.
Thanks
