I treated myself to an observatory (and another new scope)! It's currently sitting in a temporary location, need to move it about 10m to the right on a new deck that I have not had built yet. Took long enough to get here, shipped it from Canada to Cyprus, ordered in July 2020 and arrived early January 2021.
So much better than having to setup and tear down all my gear ever night. We have had some real heavy rain and high winds the last couple of days and when I checked inside this morning, the scope was still dry, so that's off to a good start
You can see a bit more about it in the video below, and the first night I had imaging from it using another new toy, a RASA 11" astrograph. I went for another first for me over to Orion Nebula.

I had no idea personal observatories were a thing. That's so cool!

You wouldn't believe some of them on Youtube. They are amazing, some of the ones people are building are the size of triple garages with rolling roofs, or built on top of their houses. Just search youtube for home observatory or rolling roof observatory.

I am consumed with envy - for having the open space for the observatory, for the observatory, and for the telescopes.

Thanks Daniel, yes and dark skies on top of that as well!
I have to also thank covid for the accelerated purchases, with all the extended rotations (aka overtime) I've had to do, this has allowed me to treat myself as compensation for all those weeks away from home. Seems to justify the expense

I know, if someone had said to me 5 years ago, 'where do you see yourself in 5 years' I don't think, in Cyprus, in an observatory, in the garden, staring at the universe through some 11" telescopes and imaging with subzero camera would have been the answer.

Time to make a snow !
I feel for you, my back aches just looking at it. We in the midwest have had it pretty easy so far.

Imagine my surprise when I walked into the utility room and saw this. Yikes!
I am not a herpetologist but that looks like a baby Diamondback Rattlesnake to me. It was about a foot long and its head was about an inch across.
I threw it outside. That cat has brought in live Woodpeckers, Blue Jays, mice, and lizards but this was a first and hopefully the last snake it brings in.

Hmmm,
Looks like a massasauga to me. The long stripe going down both sides of the head gives it away. There are three subspecies and I can't tell which one it is... (I don't remember where you live) but 2/3 of massasauga are on the endangered/protected species list.
Best Wishes,

[Update]
OK, I looked at your area and it would probably be a sistrurus catenatus edwardsii (Desert Massasauga) which is not on the endangered species list. That species is 'borderline' and being considered for protection.

Normally I do. I make an exception where rattlesnakes are concerned around the house. I live in Northern California and I am bordered by BLM land on three sides. We have LOTS of wildlife here. I haven't posted the video of the bear yet. The cat chased it too.

Is yours a female cat rearing its young ones? We had a female cat protecting is young ones, when a dog came. The cat raised an alarm and tried to chase it away, after which I went and chased away the dog.

No, he is a Bengal and that's just his way. He is quite a bit different than the average domestic cat.

My female cat was fearless. Once a german shepherd dog wandered into our front yard. This tiny little cat jumped at him and sunk her claws in his nose. He ran off screeching and never entered our space again. He'd had enough and learned his lesson.
On the other hand, our little miniature schnauzer regularly fought cats and big dogs. They all learned to leave her alone.
