The problem with my replicator is that it just consumes too much power. I mean even having mine produce a small raisin raises my electric bill to nearly a month's pay.
You need one of these if you want one.[^]Most people, such as yourself, don't realize the operating expenses of converting energy to matter.

By the time the Star Trek replicator comes along, I trust we will also have solved the power requirements issue.

Bear in mind replicators are two-way: they convert energy to matter and matter to energy for waste disposal. At a guess, they are the only reason Star Fleet can run long range missions - food, air, water, spares, laundry, and sewage disposal are all replicator functions. The ship is a nearly closed system, so "recycling" works fine, provided there isn't too much inefficiency in the system.
So they shouldn't need excessive power: feed matter in one end, convert to energy, convert to different matter at the other.

Yep. Broadband: the walls are 2ft / 60cm thick granite, and mere mobile signals have trouble. I'd be looking at modem speeds to use 3G / 4G, and 5G is right out the window for at least a decade.
Even with mobile, it has to be the right provider if I want to stay dry - most of 'em only work at the bottom of the garden because we're at a narrow point of the valley and signal doesn't get through well.
Still, I get 50Mbs FTC broadband that's solid as a rock, which is nice.

Nice, I was considering mounting mine into a cupboard and then put different doors on the front so I could put a window.
How does your enclosure open?
What's the display look like now with the printed temp display etc.

So I'm now working 100% remote. Loving it. New work sent me an really powerful laptop to use. The screen is dying, and so I'm using Team View to remote into it from another laptop and it's practically perfect since Team View gives you access to everything, not just a virtual screen.

Great looking product! Unfortunately, all ISPs around here support only dynamic addressing, and the second thing the program asks for is the IP address of the remote computer.

No Anydesk wouldnt ask for the IP address.
As you see in this image[^] , they just make use of the DeskID/Alias . It works perfect like a domain name, never changing as far as I could check.

Took my home office to bits and got myself a couple of new sit/stand desks...........
I also decided to add a couple monitors to my main workstation.
The main middle monitor is my original 30" Dell at 2560x1600, and the 2 new outer ones are 32" Samsung 4K monitors 3840x2160.
The new monitors also support a have a pretty good picture by picture so I also replaced my old workstations motherboard which was faulty and formatted the SSD and installed Linux, using the distro Elementary OS
The fast, open, and privacy-respecting replacement for Windows and macOS ⋅ elementary OS
Works pretty good and looks clean and fresh. First time I had seen or heard of it when I was searching for which distro to take for a spin. The mouse and keyboard also support multiple pairings.
Now I just need to think of something to work on!

elementary OS looks interesting, when Windows 7 support runs out I'll be looking for something new!
