I don't think that's your problem, but set the swapfile to 0 bytes, let windows reboot itself, then restore it to it's normal size. I think it's set under control panel -system in 98.

I think you're right - I've changed the sizeof the swap file and even the disk, and I STILL get the failure. Any idea what it could be / experiments to perform ?

Reinstall windows. After doing that and reinstalling all your apps make a HD image so your next restore will be relatively painless.

Dan, I'm trying to avoid reinstalling Win98 and all my DD's and apps - it's such a pain ! Investigating every other possible avenue first, but agree that OS reinstall may ultimately be the only way !

Which application crashes with this error? Is it Windows Explorer?

It appears to be whatever app I use with my TV Tuner.I had been using Intervideo WinDVR for quite a few months (not everything worked !), but tried a few others and got the same results at some point or other. I'm double-double checking that I have the latest drivers for the MSI 8606 card at present (but I'm fairly sure that I am)

Yes, the drivers seem to be up to date.

00000000 is always an invalid address, regardless of the page file status. What is more interesting is the segment (00DE). DE is 11011110, which indicates a privilege-level 2 segment. Windows does not use privilege level 2 - only 0 and 3! Therefore there is a serious bug with some software - your TV tuner driver, most likely - and clearing the virtual memory page file would not help.
If the drivers are up-to-date, use device manager (whereever it is on 98) and see if there are any hardware conflicts. Other than that, I can't think of much else...

hi
it might be easy to connect your LED with parallel port output pins for turning on and off
but how can i connect my turned on LED(with 3v cell) to my parallel port data input port to asceraint programmatically whether it is on or on please help me
how can i do this
if somebody have programmes related to this in vb 6 or C++
please provide me these

hi,
1. connect a light cell to the input port and the ground
2. face it with the led powered from an output pin or you can connect the output pins to a relay "coil" and the relay "switch" back to the input ports but be carefull. or you can skip all the hardware parts and do it programatically

Hi,
If any one backed up device driver articles material published in codeproject, can you please mail them to jagadeeshrpind@yahoo.com
Thanks in advance.

Hey Guys,
Is there any alogrithm or source code in C/C++ to test the RAM.
I want to test the RAM present in any system. I need to test it considering the paging system present.
Thanks,
-Tom

Use memtest86 or any other of these memory testing programs. Coding one yourself doesn't make sense if you don't know how hardware programming for x86 protected mode works. When you check for memory errors in windows you won't be able to check the whole physical memory because of paging!
Don't try it, just do it!

Ya, I do have memtest86. But how do I verfy about the test result. Whether its proper or not?.
Please point me some link so that I can cross verify it.
-Thanks in advance

When memtest86 displays errors then there are errors, what is the problem with it?

Having problems installing Exchange Server 2003 on a Virtual Server. Once I added the NNTP and SMTP components, the install proceeded almost smoothly, except for the Information Store service which failed. Anyone has any idea how to get that up and running on a new install? Google failed me for the first time ever.

Virtual Server?
What kind of a virtual Server do you use?
I think there´s a problem with hardware device drivers. Many (cheap) Virtual Servers simulates a new system in a running system in that way, that hardware was simulated too. -> e.g. if your real systems uses a radeon 9000 graphic card, the virtual system uses a (very old) standard graphic card.
I think that´s the same with your network, sound and other components. The virtual system only maps the input to output of your real system and across.
So I think there are many problems to use specific applications like ExchangeServer etc.
Very good (and expensive) virtual systems will solve this problems, but not in 100%

Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 for testing and development. We have SharePoint, IIS and other servers set up this way. Exchange was the first to give us problems.

Hello All.
How I can manage standart DV device from my programs?
For example: send "record" command to videorecorder (i etc.
To simplify task: I don't need transmit/receive video and audio data, only commands.
