It is a word document that is being populated. I was just wondering how they figure out how many charactres are in the document. It is a template document

They count the characters.
As that answer was so terribly obvious, it's probably not what you were looking for. Can you be more specific in your question?

Hello,
I'm trying to parse a string according to a Type that's being passed in:
<br />
Type inputType = Type.GetType("System.Int32");<br />
string inputString = "314"<br />
<br />
TypeDelegator td = new TypeDelegator(inputType);<br />
<br />
return td.InvokeMember("Parse", BindingFlags.Static | BindingFlags.InvokeMethod | BindingFlags.Default, null, null, new object[]{inputString});<br />
However, the code above results in a MissingMethodException: Method "System.Int32.Parse" not found.
Calling System.Int32.Parse(inputString) works fine, so I have no idea what's wrong.
I've played a bit with the BindingFlags, but to no avail.
First person to answer correctly gets a cookie!
Thanks!

Parse is a Public Static method, so add BindingFlags.Public

Hehe, can't believe it was that simple.
Thank you very much!

Introduction
I've got a combobox on my form which is bound to a complex data source (IList).
myCombobox.DataSource = myList;
myCombobox.DisplayMember = "LastName";
myCombobox.ValueMember = "person_id";
The combobox itself is bound to a business object
myCombobox.DataBindings.Add("SelectedValue", myBusinessObjectInstance, "person_id");
So far so good. My combobox is filled with the provided Items and when I select an item inside the combobox the value get's updated in my myBusinessObjectInstance as expected.
Problem
As far as I understand the BindingContext class it holds all bindings (controls) bound to the same data source instance, in my case myBusinessObjectInstance .
But when I ask the form for the BindingContext attached to myBusinessObjectInstance the combobox binding is missing.
What do I miss?

I am trying to install .NET1.1 on Windows 98, a task which I have done quite succesfully before. This time however it fails right at the end when registering enterpriseservices.dll. A message is displayed that Regsvcs has "performed an illegal operation", and the whole installation rolls back. I have tried updating the windows installer, and running the Installation Cleanup Utility, and deleting the windows\Microsoft .net\framework folders, all to no avail. This is a brand new W98SE installation with nothing on it but VNC and ZoneAlarm.
I have found several messages on the web from people who have had this problem, but not one that satisfactorily cures it. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Have you installed all available patches on the Win98 box? How about MDAC 2.6, Internet Explorer 5.01, Windows Installer 2.0 and all their patches?

I have the latest version of the Installer (as stated), IE is at V6, MDAC at 2.81, and I've done a full Windows Update scan.

Not a clue. And it doesn't look like anyone else has one either.
There is a hotfix for the System.EnterpriseServices.dll (and the Thunk that goes with it), but it will only fix certain problems AFTER installation of the .NET Framework, not before.
About the only thing I could even remotely suggest is to wait for .NET 1.1 SP2. But that doesn't help you now... I'd try it on a new installation of Win98, but without installing anything else. Not even ZoneAlarm...

By the way, did I mention that the processor is a 486. Is it possible that this is the cause of the problem?
Dave

|
|
|

Well, the minimum is either a Pentium 90MHz, or the minimum for the O/S, whichever is higher.
I don't think a 486 qualifies...

I guess that's the problem then. Odd way to manifest itself, but there we are. Thanks for your help.

Hi,
If you running against .net 2.0 use the BackgroundWorker component to avoid this issue. Otherwise crawl trough the cp articles related to threading GUI issues.

For MonthCalendar control, the weekday format would follow the current
culture setting of the system, I wish to change the weekday format to en-us
while the system has been set to other culture setting rather than en-us.
I've tried to change the culture of the UIThread & CurrentThread to en-us,
while the form create the instance of the MonthCalendar, but failed.
Could any one help me for this ? Thanks!
Do or do not, there is no try.
