DateTime structure has a property called "Now", will give you the datetime object has a current date and time.

I am trying to add a class to my user control that inherits from:
System.Windows.Forms.Design.ParentControlDesigner
But the only namespaces that I can get from System.Windows.Forms.Design are as follows:
ComponentEditorForm
ComponentEditorPage
EventsTab
IUIService
IWindowsFormsEditorService
PropertyTab
WindowsFormsComponentEditor
I don't know why I cannot get the expected namespaces including ParentControlDesigner, and I would appreciate any help on the matter.

1.Require a treeview control with checkbox functionality.
2. Can the backbutton on IE be disabled by the developer else how can you detect that the User has depressed the back button and force a redirect to the current page.

Not sure if this will work but my 2 cents.
window.document.onkeydown = function() {
alert("You hit key" + window.event.keyCode);
}

In .NET 1.0, I have written an application using .NET Remoting. My remote component and the clients rely heavily on the use of events for communication. Ideally, when the component fires an event, the clients would handle the event and provide the necessary response. I have compiled this application in .NET 1.1, and everytime it comes to the point where my client creates an event handler for any event in the remote component, the application crashes with weird error messages. Folks have been telling me that this is due to the new security changes in .NET 1.1.
Does anyone know how I can avoid getting these errors? I will deeply appreciate any help you may provide.

Add this to your config file on the server side.
<serverProviders>
<formatter ref="binary" typeFilterLevel="Full" />
<formatter ref="soap" typeFilterLevel="Full" />
</serverProviders>
Add the line according to the formatter you are using.

Of course, that is the solution, but no the explanation. You can find explanations in Ingo Rammer[^]

I have it on my machine. Did you search for dotnetfx.exe?
If you still need it, e-mail me and I will zip it up for you.

I believe it is also freely downloadable from msdn.microsoft.com.

have written an application that employs excel to produce a report.
This works fine when used on a system with Excel XP or Excel 2003 installed but dies when run on a system with an earlier version installed.
This is a bit of a problem as I cannot guarantee that Excel 2000 will NOT be installed on systems running this application.
Does anyone know of an alternative that I could employ for those systems where Excel 2000 is installed?
Many thanks,
Chris

This is the strangest bug I have ever seen and can be reproduced at will.
Put a RichTextBox on a form and type \\\ it will underline it and turn it blue.
My guess is that it thinks its a link and is trying to create a hyperlink.
Anyone else seen this?

That's the start of a link to a network path, so it's not a bug.
There is one bug I've found though that's easily reproducible:
Enable URL detection in a RichTextBox. Enter a url in the textbox. If you move your cursor over the empty area of the RTB, you'll notice the cursor is the standard arrow cursor (all is well). Now, change the text in the RTB to some non-URL plain text in one call to .Text = .... Move your cursor over the empty area of the RTB and you'll notice the cursor is now the URL cursor (usually the hand cursor), which is a bug. To make it worse, click in the empty area and it will raise the .LinkClicked event, despite there being no link to click on.
The graveyards are filled with indispensible men.

I am looking for a web-like drop-down text field for a Compact Framework application. It would need to drop-down displaying past entries and allow new text entries as well. Much like you get with most of the Search fields on the web. Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks

this exception is thrown by Font.Initialize() during creation of an instance of ListView on my form _deep_ in my remoting client component. this exception occurs __ONLY__ if the component's CCW is hosted by third-party scripting engine based on VBScript (SmartScript for PDM SmarTeam, if you know) others (IE6, VBA Office XP) and VB 6.0 applications have no problems with it. interfaces are OLE Automation compatible and operate business-objects only.
the question is: what in architecture of non .NET application hosting CCW (or in interop. declarations, if it is possible) could cause a problem with resource allocation?
