With great difficulty. The only way to do it generically is to do OCR.

list view goes blank

hi all,

I am facing with an unusual problem. i am doing a project involving TCP/IP packet capturing. I display the packets in a list view. it works most of the times except the first time.

For the first time when i click start button the list view goes blank. after that it works properly.

can any one help me?

That depends entirely on how your filling the ListView while your capturing packets. Are you letting the ListView update itself after filling it with data? Is your packet capture process running on the same thread of the UI? If so, then you're going to have to call Application.DoEvents to let the Window and it's controls redraw themselves. A better method would be to run the capture process on a seperate thread and have it post calls back to the Window with the ListView telling it to add the data, possibly using an event.

Also, consider that you can't possibly update the ListView fast enough to post every packet that flies by as it does so. You might want to hold off updating the ListView until the capture is finished, then you can populate the ListView however you want.

hi friends,

how can i indent the data ( nodes ) in a tree view using tab. I tried using "\t" in the node string, but it displays a square character in the node instead of indenting.

The TreeView doesn't support the Tab character. You'll either have to TRY prepending the strings with Space characters or do without. Since it's a TreeView that already does indenting for child nodes, I really have a hard time thinking of a good reason to use such formatting...

You'll have to write a file system extension to accomplish this. This is NOT a project for the faint of heart or weak in COM Interop and NTFS extension skills.

Here's a better idea. Just use the normal NTFS Security permissions. The requirements you specified are exactly what Security is for.

You wouldn't have to. I really can't give you the details because you haven't said what files and folders your trying to protect or under which folders any of this stuff is stored.

Fit together two controls

i need to write a function which moves the control c2 close to c1 ...
could anyone give me some tips regarding this or maybe post a method which implements that.

Hi all,

I have one question about setting up the installer. I've set the RemovePreviousVersions of installer to true, and have changed the installer version every new release(it also changed the product code).
However, the installer still can't detect the pervious version of application. Do I miss any important steps?

I had the same problem. IIRC the version numbers need to be incremented too, but in my case it didnt work. Some silly issue with MSI not checking the entire version 'string' (0.0.0.1 -> 0.0.0.2 didnt work).

for me, my previous version number of installer is set to 2.1.0
now I set the installer version to 2.1.9 , it still doesn't work.

A strange issue, I was changed back the RemovePreviousVersions to false, however, the installer will go to install page without any prompting. As it will ask user to remove pervious before, now it can't.

I really don't know how to solve.

Creating a custom Combobox control

Is it possible to create a custom drop down control much like the existing Combobox, but with my own content on the drop down area? I have special needs, for instance to include a Textbox and a Button on the drop down area.

I cant figure out what kind of window the drop down area is. It must be a window since it can cross the parent form boundaries, but at the same time it doesn't remove the focus from the parent window so it acts like a regular form control. To create such a "hybrid", do I have to use the NativeWindow class, or has it all to do with redirecting window messages from the popup window to the parent window?

The ideal situation would be to have some kind of free floating "PopupPanel" control that could be added to a form, but that isn't restricted to parent form boundaries. Any clues on how to write such a control?

What about trying to have a regular dropdown with a hidden panel (which the hiddenpanel will contain all the controls you with to show )and in the event of dropin gthe combo ,show the panel.
