Services are really too big a topic to discuss here. I suggest a book: Programming Server-Side Applications for Windows 2000[^], by Jeff Richter and Jason Clark (MS Press).
SRVany and similar programs don't really run your program as a service - they only start up a copy of your program in the service's security context when the service is started, and kill it off (with TerminateProcess, IIRC) when it's stopped.

I'm a beginner writing my 2nd program. I'm stuck. I'm not sure were the problem is. Monthly payment formuls: payment=rate*(1+rate)n/((1+rate)n-1*L rate=monthly interest rate, n=number of payments L=loan amount.

I'm not gonna give you the answer to this because its way too obvious which is why there probably hasn't been a response yet.
Here's a hint. Check out your last three cout statements and think about what they are doing. Shouldn't take long to see the problem.

You really want to consider Cout'ing pay, apb, and intpd AFTER YOU HAVE CALCULATED THEM.

Hi,
I have written a SDI application which opens a XML document from the file->open menu and works on it. Now, I want to right click on any xml file and go to the option "open with" and select my SDI application from the list, and the application would show data from the xml file the way it works for the file->open menu. How can do that?
Please advise.

Sorry for this question in the c++ forum, but people don't reply in the general discussion forums. Is Intel planning on releasing a 64 bit processor as well anytime soon? How long until they might be available for notebooks? Thanks!
By the way...I have to write a program for my class, it's supposed to display "Hello World". I'm a dumbass who doesn't want to do any work, so will everybody on here do my homework for me so later I can help flood the job market with yet another unqualified candidate? Lol, thanks!

Hello,
I am just trying to upgrade a MFC project to VS.Net 2003. In this project I have an ActiveX Control for which I created a wrapper class using menu "Project | Add to project | Components and Controls" in VC6. After selecting the correct control this created or recreated the corresponding wrapper class to use the control in an MFC-Dialog.
May be I am stupid, but I can't find the corresponding command in VS.Net 2003. 
Any help to find this silly command is very much appreciated

Right-click the Toolbox, choose Add/Remove Items from the menu. In the Customize Toolbox dialog that appears, choose the COM Components tab. Check the box alongside any components or controls you want to reference in the project.
Drop any desired controls onto your dialog resource.
When you add a member variable for the control (right-click the control and choose Add Member Variable), VS.NET prompts you for the files for the wrapper class, along with the other information.
Alternatively you can simply right-click the dialog resource and choose Insert ActiveX Control (which, for some reason, produces an entirely different dialog).

I noticed this context menu element, but did not expect to (re)create the wrapper class here.

Can anyone out there please help an aspiring programmer of C++ by creating the 2 programs that solve the problems below? Thanks...
1.a fast food restaurant charges $1.49 for hamburgers,$0.89 for fries,and $0.99 for sodas. Write a program that allows an employee to enter an order(the number of burgers,fries and sodas) then display a total,the tax at 6%, and the final cost. The program output should look similar to:
Enter the number of burgers: 3
Enter the number of fries: 2
Enter the number of sodas: 5
The total before tax is: $11.20
The tax is: $00.67
The grand total is: $11.87
2. Gym classes are to form volleyball teams of 7 each. Write a program that asks for the number of players,then gives the number of teams and the number of players left over. The program output should look similar to:

There will be five teams with 2 left over.
