IMO that is irrelevant as you should not even consider writing code like that. The only things you can achieve here is confuse yourself, confuse all future readers, and make debugging tougher than necessary.

If it is
j[i]=i;
i++;


you want, then write exactly that. It makes perfectly clear what is going on, and, at least in an Intel-Windows environment, it does not have any influence on code size or performance.
