Using a timer act_x3-Jun-03 4:25 act_x 3-Jun-03 4:25  I am trying to use a Timer in a non MFC framework . I have been able to use this timer in the past. Suddenly I am faced with problems which I am failing to comprehend . The timer is called as : timerID=::SetTimer(NULL,NULL,1000,this->TimerCallback1); that confirms to the syntax UINT_PTR SetTimer( HWND hWnd, UINT_PTR nIDEvent, UINT uElapse, TIMERPROC lpTimerFunc ); My Call back is defined as static VOID CALLBACK TimerCallback1(HWND hwnd, UINT uMsg, UINT idEvent, DWORD dwTime); Still My Timer Function is not getting called !!! The strange part is that The timer does get called when the interval is less than 400 msec !!!! Everything works fine but I have to sit in a tight loop to wait for the command to finish like that <br /> do<br /> {<br /> retval=WaitForSingleObject (sei.hProcess, 0);<br /> } while (retval ==WAIT_TIMEOUT);<br /> This makes my application hang the PC for a long time. But using a kernel wait instead of a busy wait would be much nicer for your CPU. If you want your application to continue to respond to input, then you should use MsgWaitForMultipleObjects() with a message pump. Supply a reasonable time-out interval such as 2000.
