I was trying to display a jpeg picture in a window so i tried the Ole approach, but in all functions they use a constant HIMETRIC_INCH, which is apparently not declared in my header files.. which I think is very odd seeings i never saw anyone else complain about it in the comments.. I have Visual Studio 6.0 and I also have an up-to-date SDK installation. What's going on?

Well i got the functions from http://www.codeproject.com/bitmap/render.asp[^]. But i've also seen it used in various other articles that use the Ole way to load pictures. So yea.. it probably exists.. but seeings it's just a constant, maybe someone could just supply me with the value?

I recommend you get a copy of 'Agent Ransack' and use it to search "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VC98\", when ever you cann't find something you believe is there. Sometimes you need to do that just to find the correct header files, when MSDN fails to specify them.

I did that just incase it was and found:
#define HIMETRIC_INCH 2540 // HIMETRIC units per inch
defined internaly in the file "WINGDIX.CPP".

How odd

I don't have a file WinGDIX.h... neither in my vc6 include directory, nor my ms sdk include directory.. weird.. guess it's update time. But thank you both for the replies Smile | :)

Who said anything about WinGDIX.h? I said it was internaly define in WinGDIX.cpp, which is a supplemental file supplied with VC6.

"\VC98\MFC\SRC\WINGDIX.CPP"

It is not something you can include in your projects, but it did give the correct value for HIMETRIC_INCH.

The simple search also showed that it was not defined in a header file, and therefor must be defined by the programmer.

i'm writing an email client with visual studio .net,
including 'windns.h' to perform dns query.
Passing DNS_TYPE_A value to DnsQuery_A function, program seem to work well, but using DNS_TYPE_MX, application do not work ;(.

I need some help I have a flight simulator program to write on one days activity at an airport using the following as input data. No. of available runways, average time runway is in use for arrivals and departure, average no. of arrivals and departure for a particular airline and average arrivals and departure for all other airlines. I would be gratfull for any help. Confused | :confused:

hi all expert out here Smile | :)

i'm working on a project, where create an ActiveX plug in for MSIE, which gv IE the ability to resizing image without needs for another stand-alone software. can i get some links for any tutorials which touch step by step development of this ActiveX control? i myself hv found some thru search engine, how ever still vy confuse and blur about it, especially about how do i get the event readimage from the browser.

beside it, i would like to make use of some image processing library to make my life easier, and implement some resamplign algorithms provided. Any suggestion? Intel OpenCV is a good one?

Hi all

I am using visual studio 6.0.
Whenever I add a new member function using the wizard (Add Member Function) I also want to the appropriate ( Predifined by me) comments to appear just before the function definition in the class implementation file.
How could I do that. ?

Integer Input Problem

I encounter the following problem within my program. When the user is prompted to input a number the following happens to the calculations. When $2000 is input the calculation comes out fine i.e., 4% +$80.00. The problem comes if the user enters $2,000 the 4% shows up as o.o8. The comma is causing a problem. Can someone help me overcome this problem. Other than that the program works fine. I have tried cin.ignore() to no avail. Since I am just beginning C++ I am lost.

dialogs children are not resized automatically.

you need to handle WM_SIZE and resize and reposition you web browser control.

I used a WebBrowser2 Class provided by VC++.net framework to handle the webbrowser control. But I dont know exactly what are the methods to be used from that class to reposition my Web Browser Control.

Can u help me by giving the methods to resize and reposition the Control.

TAB not working properly in WebBrowser control embeded in modeless dialog box encapsulated within an ATL DLL

Hi,

I have created an ATL dll which has a modeless dialog box containing a WebBrowser control. My problem is that whenever I'm pressing TAB key over the WebBrowser control, the focus is not shifting to other controls or links within the web page which is getting displayed within the control.

I have implemented a hook to trap WH_GETMESSAGE message, after that I'm able to get response from the 4 arrow keys and TAB key, but that too within the dialog box.

I have to make the TAB key acting normal within the WebBrowser control that is within that dialog box.

Can anyone of you help me out? Thanks in advance.

i fail to envoke shutdown function.
i m trying to write the data recd in the socket buffer to a fiel.
though i manage it but it happens only i stop the application and not before.
i tried many alternatives but feel i m still short of something.
Seeing the given code can i be suggested why????

I do not know about your actual problem, but you have other problems.

char *buff;
buff=(char *)malloc(1);

recv(server,buff,sizeof(buff),0);
recv(client,buff,sizeof(char),0);

buff[n]=0;

1) Allocating a 1 character buffer makes no since and you never free the memory allocated. Just declare a single character variable or a small buffer: char buff; or char buff[1];

2) These two statements are not the same thing:
recv(server,buff,sizeof(buff),0);
recv(client,buff,sizeof(char),0);

sizeof(buff) == sizeof(char*) NOT sizeof(char);

If you had declared the buff variable as buff[1] or buff then
sizeof(buff) would equal sizeof(char).

3) buff[n]=0;
if n is anything other than 0, then your thread may (should) crash.
buff[1] = 0; // ERROR

4) Unless you have a good reason, constantly opening and closing the file in the outer loop is probably a bad idea too!

Taking char * buff has a strong reason behind as i m trying to recv a string eg. SYNTAX like <green>Operator play file abc.wav

yeah a typing err n i apologize fr recv(server,....)it was n shud be recv(client,....).
Constantly opening and closing file is reqd as the client may keep sending data.

eg. 1.

open channel ch_id,play file filename,record fiel fielrec

, etc...

i want to envoke shutdown in the outer loop

n yes i ddnt free memory was my mistake..for once the data is written to the fiel the memory shud have been freed n file closed.
