I am taking the IPC approach on this one. It's about time I got my head around all this inter process chit chat. I'm currently putting together a small class which will store multiple strings/(who knows what else) into the mapped file. This may even turn into an article.

Do you want some notification for the completion of task that is being done in a dll?
You can use a flag variable, modify it in the dll(Pass it to the dll by reference) and then check for the value that if it gets modified, you do some other task.

Somethings seem HARD to do, until we know how to do them.

in my program i use function in dll when this function fails it post message(from insde the dll)like(Erorr number ...) so i dont want this message to appear i want to now win its posted and prevent it to appear to user and then i post my own message.

If it's some unexpected error or your DLL cannot handle it, you may throw a string (instead of displaying it). Your caller should catch the string thrown from the DLL and process it any way you like.

Using CToolTipCtrl::AddTool() you can specify different tooltips for different areas of a window. So for the window that is displaying the icons simply call AddTool() with each icon's rectangle area.

If you are not using MFC then take a look at the TTM_ADDTOOL message.

Setting & getting encryption level

Hi,

I need to write a relatively simple function for getting and setting values in the system security settings. For instance, I know how to use the SetEncryptionLevel() of the Win32_TSGeneralSetting class. But I need a method for getting the current value of the encryption level, e.g., GetEncryptionLevel(), but I can find no such method. Does anyone know how to get this value? I also need to be able to get and set the TLS 1.0 setting.

AFAIK this can not be done. You can however get a device context for the entire screen and call GetPixel() and SetPixel() on that device context.

Yes they are. If you need speed then you could do a screen capture into a memory DIB then you can access the DIB bits directly.

I met a trouble.
If client1 connect to client2, client1 can send message to client 2. but why i cant send message from client2 to client1? and why i cant connect client2 to client1? WTF | :WTF:

Are u using Platform sdk or mfc?

If sdk use the sokcet value which is returned by the accept function to send back to the client.

If use the object whose reference is passed to the Accept function on the sever side.

But it's not like the client and server problem, and i dont konw which one will connect to the other side first.How do I solve this problem?

For making one application both sever and client.
1. Declare two CSocket objects m_ServerSocket,m_ClientSocket.
2. While starting the application itself start a thread which creates the
m_ServerSocket and keep it listen mode at some port.
3. Put a button by clicking which the m_ClientSocket is created and connected
to the ip and socket value on which server socket is listening.
4. When it reaches the Accept of m_ServerSocket u need to pass a reference of
another CSocket object using which u can communicate back to the client.

Hope this helps u upto some point.

In general, static variables cannot be external. Static really confines the scope to the current file/block only, which is contradictory to external. So it won't compile if you put them together. In many cases, however, just using extern scope may meet your requirement:
1) in one source file, declare a variable outside all functions.
2) all other declarations should use "extern" keyword.

Disabling a group of radio buttons

How can I disable a group of radio buttons? I've tried EnableWindow(FALSE) but it doesn't work because it only works for the head of the group as it is not possible to add control to other radio buttons in the same group. Thanks.

What you need to do is set the group property to 'group' for all of the other radio button in the group.

Now you can then create the control variables required.

When you have created the control variables go back and remove the group property for the radio buttons that you changed.

You can now use the control variables to enable and disable the radio buttons as required.

i can't write a program that it modify its code and execute it;
i tried it with assembly too (use _asm , but useless).
That's when i try to modify the virtual table of class with virtual function.
Ex:

The underlined variable should be pfake.

As for the access violation error, the page which contains the virtual table will be read-only. Try something like this (not tested):

Finally, why do you want to do such a thing? Such hackery is, in general, a bad idea.

PS: It would be nice if you went to some effort to make your code readable (for example, indentation and blank lines between sections of code).

Sorry about "make your code readable", actually i have to type it again because i didn't bring mycode together, if i copy and paste it'll look readable, wont it!

About why? Because i want to see how some game use DirectX and i dont know much about COM, i think if i use COM method i have to create as much interface as game request; and some case DirectX return some interface that i dont know exactly it's created or not. So, it's not my interesting and i chosen this method. With this i actually don't have to create any object but i can see how game use DirectX and may be i can get some good idea. Confused | :confused:

If you think it's bad idea, could you tell me the popular one!
