is it safe(shell API have some dependency on the version?) to use shell API, if we there are some other win32 APi to do the same task?
is it faster than Win32 APIs?

According to my experience, it's risky to do changes in a directory structure while doing a FindFirst/Findnext loop. I have had problems doing that (such as deleting the found files) in the past.
IMO, ShFileOperation is safer, and I would use it.

I tried using SHFileOperation. But the program is crashing.
This is what I did:
SHFILEOPSTRUCT del;
del.hwnd = NULL;
del.wFunc = FO_DELETE;
del.pFrom = "C:\\temp\\*.mdb";
del.fFlags = FOF_FILESONLY;
SHFileOperation(&del);
Something is wrong here. I tried searching the net, but I am not able to figure it out. Please can you help me.

you need to set del.pTo ,too.
i.e.
set it to NULL if you are not using it.
code will be,
SHFILEOPSTRUCT del;
del.hwnd = NULL;
del.wFunc = FO_DELETE;
del.pFrom = "C:\\temp\\*.mdb";
del.fFlags = FOF_FILESONLY;
del.pTo = NULL;
SHFileOperation(&del);

SHFILEOPSTRUCT<br /> structure shoud be assigned NULL!

Hello,
I use DAO to make the connection. There are some really nice samples that come in msdn. I wrote my own little class to do the stuff taking help from the samples.
Here is the database creation part. My database needed to be locked with a password.

Hi,
What is an array in VC++? Is it a class? Lets say I create an array of ints with int i[20], then does it mean that objects of a hidden array class is created? What actually is an array? And is there a Dynamic array implementation in the std namespace?

How do you mean ? If your app doesn't offer printing, it can't print. Or do you mean print screen ?

That's going to be fairly complex, you'd have to work out what printers were attached and find a way to block communication on those ports. I don't like your chances

Thanks for your reply,I had some code from internet to forbid such as usb,floppy,cdrom.but I have not find a way to forbid printer or forbid
print function.
The aim of the program is that I have to write it for my leader required

Hi,
I'm having some trouble with this component in Borland 6. I can start the server using TcpServer->Open(); and see that it is "listening" when I go "netstat -an".
However when I try to close the server using, TcpServer->Close(); or TcpServer->Active = false; the socket remains in a "listening" state and I can still connect to it using my client. The OnDestroyHandle event is triggered however for some reason, I cannot close the server. When I use ServerSocket and ClientSocket components, it works perfectly. I just thought the TcpServer is just a ServerSocket component with a TCP layer over the top.
Would this have something to do with the BlockMode property ?
I appreciate any help.

I came across an odd difference in CString between Visual C++ 6.0 and Visual C++ 2003. The question is, which would you consider the correct (expected) result from the following code snippet. MFC/SDI basic app for demo...

I'm a bit rusty on C++, not having done any for 18 months. But tried your example in VC++ 6, 7.1 and 8. Get same behaviour as you in the first two. In the last your code doesn't compile!

This is pretty interesting. Personally, without looking into it any further, I would expect the first result.
The returned string from GetString() should returns "Th" (truncated due to the '\0' characters). This then gets appended to the rest and results in "ThTh From Str....".
It seems the VS2003 seems include the null termination character in its concatenation operator, resulting in the "Th" string.
I prefer VS6.0's result anyhow.

However, VS6.0's results is not standard behavior! It erased data or corrupted data.

For VS 2003, they improved CString.
The reasoning is that when you format a string with embedded zeros, you want those zeros to be part of the data set.
A good example where this is uses is in multi-strings (multiple strings separated by a terminating zero and a double zero at the end.)
You can force CString to truncate to the terminating zero by simply calling CString::ReleaseBufffer() right after the call to CString::Format.
