would generate mass amount of code for just 1 text box.

I don't think you need to put any code in any event of the text box. like evilnoodle said, use the control collection
you didn't specify what you wanted done when you found a free seat so the below just finds the first free textbox...
For each oCtrl as me.controls
if typeof (octrl) is textbox then
with ctype(octrl, textbox)
if .text = "free" then
.focus()
exit for
end if
end with
end if
next

You really need to rethink this. If I saw an application that did this, I recommend to the customer that they uninstall it and finding a different solution provider.

i have a form with a list that shows thumbnails of many jpg pictures.
i works with a loop, that looks through the paths of the jpgs from a database, and adds the image to a image list, then adds the item into the list with the corresponding image.
works fine.
the problem is, that loading the images delays the program execution, and so I've made it into a "please wait" dialog, but still its quite slow.
how can i create a method that loads the list without the images, and then, without pausing execution, (i.e. in the background) loads the images (into the image list) one by one.
I've tried a few ways, some work but it's very inefficient
thank you in advance

You'll have to move your image loading code to a background thread. There's many examples of using the BackgroundWorker component. All you have to do is Google for it.

i've already tried a background worker, yet i guess i need to time it better or work on the code
cause it loads them and if you touch one unloaded it ruins certain things (guess i'd just disable them
at first)
thank you, guess i was waiting for a diffrent approach but this is probably the best way

1) use a databound listbox and get the records from the database and set the datasource to the result
2) look into "threading" to load behind the scenes.
|
|
|

if i set the datasource on the listbox (haven't tried it) then how do i get to load jpgs into it?
i didn't think i could, i'll give it a try (with a databound imagelist aswell?) thanks

1) load the listbox
2) then use the same dataset to load the images.

If your asking how to convert a Panel class to a Button, you can't.
If you're asking how to treat the Panel link a button, all you have to do is handle the Panel's Click event.
What are you really trying to do with this???

The ellipse isn't a clickable object. It's only a picture drawn on the surface of another control.
I think I know what you're after. Something like a paint application where you can select the various object you've drawn, like lines, rectangles, and circles, and move them around after you've drawn them.
If this is true, you've gotten yourself into a fairly large application. An example of which you can find here[^].

Yes i know that
I found the following
else if(control is System.Windows.Forms.Button)<br />
{<br />
Button button = (Button)control;<br />
<br />
button.Text = "";<br />
<br />
button.Cursor = Cursors.Hand;
the aboce as u notice is written with C#
can you help to modify it ,and write in vb.net 2005?
i have drwan many ellipse.and all waht i want is to be able to click on that drwan ellipse,when the user clicks on ellipse1 do action 1.if he click on ellipse2 do action2....
Thx

How do I set my databound form controls to contain the same default values as specified by my database? So that I don't get "does not allow NULL" errors when adding and saving a new record.
According to me the controls are properly bound by bindingsource - the works.

Before you add a new row to your DataTable control you should set the .DefaultValue of each column in that DataTable. Personally, I always set my DefaultValues to an empty string if it is a text column, and a zero if it a numeric column. To do this, I use this method in my global module:
Public Sub SetDefaultValues(ByRef dt As DataTable)<br />
For Each colColumn As DataColumn In dt.Columns<br />
Select Case colColumn.DataType.FullName<br />
Case "System.String"<br />
colColumn.DefaultValue = String.Empty<br />
Case "System.Decimal"<br />
colColumn.DefaultValue = 0<br />
End Select<br />
Next<br />
End Sub
Hope this helps.

Can anyone one give me an example to make application that can get Username and password when user use yahoo messenger,....
Thanks

That's a really broad question, more the sort of thing you'd ask on a paid site. I presume that yahoo wouldn't expose that information, I'd sure hope not. I can't think of why you'd want it, except to steal someone's account. And that would be bad.

I am finishing up work on a windows service that uses CodeDom to dynamically
compile code.
The problem I am running into is that the the compile fails with a
NativeCompilerReturnValue of 2000.
I assume this is probably a security issue, but I don't know where to start
looking for a resolution. Running the code as a WinForms app is not an
option.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
