The first table is 5 columns wide (table 1) and assembled in a hierarchy. I used Janus GridEx 2 (if that matters to anyone). There is another table that is 40,000 lines long (table 2) then another one that is a whimpy 40 lines (table 3). Table 1 is connected to table 2 which is connected to table 3 to form the hierarchy. I use a textbox (actually, Janus EditBox 2) because each individual number that I will be searching is unique. I was figuring that maybe this is possible, but I have found another way to do this. Thanks for the help!
If this matters to anyone, I used the filter on the GridEX itself.
Thanks again!

I have this problem :I have developped a application in vb.net.This application use a microsoft Access database.I have used data wizard to create the connection , dataset , etc.But now there is a problem in our company : There are several Access Databases on some network computers and we want to work with these databases on my application. All the databases are identical . Now how can modify my application to make possible for users to choose one of this databases and to work with it.
I don't knoth if is possible to change the connection string ?
Or there is another way ?
Thank you in advance !

You should be able to have multiple connection strings in the app.config file, if you are going that route.

store the connectionstring in the settings file (property's of project -- settings)
then you can access this setting like my.settings.'what you provided for name'
you can add multiple connectionstrings if you want
you can create a form on wich the user select the db and you then create the connectionstring and store it to the settings
...

|
Thank you
The databases are on different computers , later we can add new databases on other computers , the location of databases may change so is not possible to create multiple connectionstrings.
I like the idea to create a form where user to select the database and then to create the connection string.
But , how to create and store the connection string in the settings file ? Can you give me some code to do this ?
Thank you !

to create a connection string in the settings file:
go to project -- property's -- settings tab there you can add a string (call it connectionstring (or somthing else)) or a connectionstring type value (I sugest a string since you want to easily alter it)
to save the connection string:
my.settings.connectionstring (or something else ) = "a connectionstring"
my.settings.save ' normally not needed but just to be on the save side
then use the connnectionstring :
dim s as string = my.settings.connectionstring
make sure that you set the connectionstring setting before you use it (otherwise you'll get a nice error and crash )
this should do it

|
i get an error : Property is readonly
|
|
|
|
|
strange
try setting scope to application and not user (if not already like that)
|
|
|
|
|
The same message "ConnectionString propert is readonly"
|
|
|
|
|
The setting may be marked as an application setting, set it to a user setting. This should allow you to change the setting from your code.
|
|
|
|
|
Same problem :
My.Settings.MyConnectionString = str
My.Settings.Save()
Error "Property MyconnectionString is readonly"
|
|
|
|
|
In Visual Studio
Open the solution explorer pane
under your project name you will see "My Project"
Double click
in the main pane select the settings tab
identify the conection string setting and check the scope - this should be user and NOT application.

I wonder if anyone can help me or had a similair problem.
At the moment I developed a system using VB.Net 2003 using Crystal Reports 8.5. We have now move to Crystal Reports 10. When I load up my project and then try running it, references CRAXDRT.DLL and CRVIEWERLib.DLL are not regonised. I have tried to remove and then install again. I have tried to re-register but with no luck. If I go back to 8.5, no problems.
Any ideas?

I would assume some incompatibility between Crystal Reports 10 and VS 2003. I use Crystal Reports 10 just fine on VS 2005. Maybe you should download a trial version and try using Crystal with the newer version. If that doesn't work, go up to 2008 Beta 2, which I also use.
Just for the record, I don't recommend 2008. 2005 does the same things as far as I can tell.

i have a pagesetupdialog that returns me the height and width of page
but the richtextbox's size property store's height and width in pixels
how can i set the richtextbox's size property in inches as the values comes in inches
psd1.PageSettings.PaperSize.Height
psd1.PageSettings.PaperSize.Width
i have to convert pixel to inches as the richtextbox shows on the form lools like exactly as the page
some have any idea how can this work be done
thnx in advance

|
You have to know the resolution to do that, i.e. what ppi (pixels per inch) are you using? This value is often (inaccurately) refered to as dpi.
Then it's just a simple calculation. Just divide the pixel value by the ppi value, and you get the value in inches.

in the keypress of the textbox test if the key pressed is the "enter" key and run whatever method you want.
|
|
|
|
|
handle the keydown or keypress methode of the textbox
Private Sub TextBox1_KeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles TextBox1.KeyDown
If e.KeyCode = Keys.Enter Then
'do something here
End If
End Sub
I thought there was an easyer way but could be that it was in JAVA don't know any more
but this does work

hi,
use following code at keypress event of textbox
If e.KeyChar = Chr(13) Then 'Chr(13) is the Enter Key
call yourProcedure()
End If

more of a dotnet syntax...
If e.KeyChar = ControlChars.Cr Then
'call procedure
End if
|
|

|

On keypress:
if e.keychar = cchar(chrw(keys.enter)) then<br />
'do actions<br />
end if

Hi
Using VS2005 - Visual Basic
I'd like to make a control like a button, but that looks like the Play, Stop, Record, Pause, Skip Forward and Skip Backward.
I'd like to be able to resize the button, and the images must resize.
I's like to be able to set the color of the button as well as the color of the image that shows the fuction of the button.
It only needs a click event.
I'd like to be able to add it under user controls.
I'd like to be able to set the 'function'
I'd like to be able to use the control as follows:
myButton.Style = myButton.Styles.Play
myButton.Forecolor = Color.Red
myButton.Backcolor = Color.Gray
So far I have:
Opened a new project
Chose 'Windows User Control'
Placed a normal button on the form
What do I do next???
