Try installing MDAC 2.7 first. Then, if your app was developed on the .NET Framework 1.1, make sure that is installed. If your app was developed on .NET 1.0 install that. Then you can probably install your app.

Hello Everyone
I want to create a browser ike interface in Windows Forms using VB.Net. I want to make a UI something like MS Money 2003.
I have read an article on MSDN : "Web-Application Interface" http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnwue/html/ch10e.asp?frame=true
I have understood the concept. But just a bit confused on how would I render dynamic data (like datagrid) on the screen.
Can anyone please provide me with some guidance.
Thanks

Also check out this page : http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnwui/html/iuiguidelines.asp?frame=true
But this does not have any information about how to program with components.

This is the fourth time you've asked this question!
You've already got your answer in your previous posts. You simply add a Public class variable to your second form and set that variable from your main form.
Now, to show a second form with the data you want to pass:
' Code in Form1
Dim form2 As New Form2
form2.myClassVariable = "something"
form2.Show()
' Code in Form2
Public Class Form2
Public myClassVariable As String
.
.
.
End Class
You might want to TRY this and if it fails, post a couple of code snippets so we can tell you want your doing wrong.

Can somebody point me on an info, how to integrate smart tags into a visual studio editor?
Thanks,
Boni

I have no idea how to do it, but I have to ask why you would to do such a thing? I can't think of any reason to do it. What kind of functionality did you have in mind?

Hi,
For example if you point on a build in variable in debug mode you can see the small field with its value. It is a smart tag(I beleave). This seems to work just for build in types. I would like to extend this functionality. And also other fun features would be possible.
With best regards,
Bonio

It's not done using SmartTags because the IDE doesn't currently support them. SmartTags will show up in the IDE in Visual Studio 2005. Currently, it's just a simple tool tip that that appears when the IDE is in debug mode and it detects that your hovering over a variable that is in scope. The ToolTip shows value types and simple reference types, like String. Beyond that...
Actually, what your thinking of doing is already being done in Visual Studio 2005. It's called a DataTip. You'll be able to create you own Viewer Helper classes that can display objects however you want. See this[^] for the full story.
Wanna peek at 2005? http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/productinfo/roadmap.aspx[^]

Hi Dave,
Thanks for this clarification. Can I set a value of this tooltip in the current verson?
I can't wait to get VS2005
Kindly yours,
Bonio

No. You can't touch it. You would have to make your own from scratch, but I odn't know where to start. The object model for the Visual Studio IDE is quite large.

Hi Dave, hi all
but the class member advice of VS seems to be a smart tag. (When you write myclass and then press dot a list of members open). So VS seems to support smart tags. Any help would be very appreciated. Best regards, Boni

That's Intellisense doing that. Smart Tag support will show up in VS.NET 2005...

I have a script which inserts a new record into a sqlserver database.
I have ListID as the primary key (autonumber). I need to find a way of returning this number once I have saved the first part of the record, as on the next page I save some other fields of the same record.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Cheers, V

Insert the record into DB using a Stored Procecure with one Out parameter. This will have the value @@Identity set in the stored procedure as follows.
SET @OutParam = @@Identity

I'm using VB.NET, I wonder...
1. How can I capture a specified area of screen ? User must be able to select the area they want to capture by mouse.
2. How can I set "Compressed" or "Encrypted" attribute to a file ?
3. How can I get the Icon List in an EXE or a DLL file ?
Thank you for helping!

I wonder how we can shutdown / restart / sleep down / suspend our computer using VB.NET?
Please don't tell me to use SHUTDOWN.EXE, it doestn't support sleep computer!
Thank you!
|
|
|

You would have to P/Invoke the SetSystemPowerState function in Kernel32. But! 8) You can't force the system to suspend or sleep whenever you want. The system and applications can deny your request, even if you set fForce to True.
Declare Auto Function SetSystemPowerState Lib "kernel32" ( _
ByVal fSuspend As Boolean, ByVal fForce As Boolean) As Boolean
The docs for SetSystemPowerState are here[^].
Alternatively, you could use SetSuspendState:
Declare Auto Function SetSuspendState Lib "PowrProf" ( _
ByVal Hibernate As Boolean, ByVal ForceCritical As Boolean, _
ByVal DisableWakeEvent As Boolean)
The docs for SetSuspendState are here[^].
