Let look back in the USBSTOR directory, then to the disk folder and try to find the key FriendlyName . I think you might satisfy with its name that you might want to use. Let me know if it is match what you need or not?

Hi Roath:
Later I came to know that there's two categories about USB disk ID, One is Vender Code(I mentioned in previous message), another is Vender IDentifier(What I wanted)!
Yeah, The registry key FriendlyName and the other Device registry property codes in SETUPAPI.h catchs my eyes too!But the question is I get nothing when I used SPDRP_FRIENDLYNAME in SetupDiGetDeviceRegistryProperty(...) under NT probably in Win98 too
The current implementation was using device interface GUID in SetupDiGetClassDevs() then using SPDRP_HARDWAREID in SetupDiGetDeviceRegistryProperty(...), In this case SPDRP_HARDWAREID was like
USBSTOR\DiskManufacturer__Mass_Storage___0.00. It works well under NT, but corrupt in Win98 because of the device GUID I used! But usb device GUID(not previous device interface GUID) works well under both scenarios, but SPDRP_HARDWAREID in this case was like USB\Vid_0457&Pid_0151&Rev_0100(Vender Code)
It seems the same SPDRP_HARDWAREID in one USB disk present different forms, Under USB registry dir is USB\Vid_0457&Pid_0151&Rev_0100, STOR\DiskManufacturer__Mass_Storage___0.00.
under the USBSTOR, which all have the same registry key "HardwareID". And USB simply doesn't have the FriendlyName key, which USBSTOR does, So I don't think FriendlyName will work under Win98 either!
I plan to turn to DevMgr.dll, ideally I can find one of the functions in this dll which helps me to locate the Disk Drive tree item, and then enumerate through its child, finally find the item I want! But that may not be feasible!

Hello. I'm not sure if I'm posting in the wrong section. Sorry if I am. Umm.. so I've become accustomed to using a middle click to close tabs (like in Firefox)... is there any sort of way to make a window close by clicking on its entry in the taskbar?

Sure! Right-click on it in the Taskbar, then select Close.

Haha, nooooooooo! I want to be able to middle click on it and close it! I'm far too lazy for the above listed action. Haha, well... not really, but it would be a little more convenient if there was a way to close a window with a middle click.

When I try and print a Web Page or e-mail I get the following error:-
Error: Interface not registered
URL: res: To print off a Web Page I have to copy into Wordpad or Word and print. Also many links on pages cause the browser to hang.
Need to stop the navigation and go into the URL field, move to the end and press return. i.e. all I get is the hour-glass when navigating to another site.
I did try and register the file; regsvr32 shdoclc.dll , but got the error:-
shdoclc.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.
This file can not be registered.
This is a pain and I have run my anti-virus, Adware, Spy-Bot programs and I also have ZoneAlarm installed. But nothing seems to sort out this problem.
Any suggestions please!

It sounds like the shdoclc.dll file has been corrupted, or is the wrong version for your OS. Try running SFC (System File Checker) to test the file. If that doesn't work, check the version number of the file, then compare it to the correct version. You can find a listing of versions at TechNet[^] under the Troubleshooting and Support menu.

Hi,
I am encountering a strange issue in my Windows XP Workstation.
The audio driver or speaker does not play. When I goto to Device Manager, Uninstall and then click 'Scan for hardware Changes', it finds the Speaker and now it is able to play. (It gives two balloon tips after detection: Found 1 new hardware (RealTek Audio); Your hardware driver is installed and ready for use)
But when I reboot my system, the settings are lost and we need to go through the above settings again.
Parallely, I observed that USB also has an yellow exclamation mark. How to get the default Windows XP driver for this. Is it anyway related to the above issue or is an isolated one?
Any clues?

Ok, then try to look at this: Right click on my computer and choose Property then go to the Hardware tab and click on button Driver Signing and find that an option Warn is select and check your hardward driver whether it is sign with Microsoft for safety used.

If you want to set the default path to a different directory, you may do so by editing the registry.
Launch the Registry Editor and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Command Processor
In the right-pane, double-click Autorun and set the folder there, preceded by a CD\ (as you type in DOS).

I have a table, the fields are RANK_1,RANK_2 and POINTS.
the table looks like ,
Record1 -> [A+] [A+] [99.89]
Record2 -> [A+] [B+] [99.95]
Record3 -> [B+] [A+] [98.88]
Record4 -> [B+] [B+] [98.99]
Suppose, i need to display in (n X n) matrix format,such as,
----------------------
[A+] [B+]
----------------------
[A+] 99.99 99.95
[B+] 98.99 98.98
----------------------
I used the datatable to bind into datagrid(ASP.NET), but i am not able to find out the exact..

Hi, I have a problem with Guest account in my computer windows xp professional. I have log in Guest accout many time and have many document my document folder. I also change the desktop themes in order to match my style. But last night when I turn on my computer and log on as guest account, I found that my guest account is loading the new profile. All setting that I made to the desktop themes are lost and especially the document in my document folder are lost too.
Everything is really new, it seem like log on to guest account as the first time. I really don't understand with this problem. Can any one give me any idea or suggestion to find the previous setting and my documents? Because I lost many importance files which is really difficult for me to retype it again. And what is the problem that cause the guest account from load the existing profile to load the new profile?

Login as Administrator (or equivelant) and navigate to "C:\Documents and Settings\guest\guest's documents"... are they there?
Also Guest by default does NOT save any settings set by the user.
When you change your profile and logoff, none of the changes are saved? There are no errors generated?
If the user is NOT a member of any local group, they are considered to be a Guest. Guest profiles are deleted at logoff.

Yes that right, after that i just found Microsoft document that guest profile are delete automatic by default when log off. If i found that document before, i won't save some necessary file in that profile. I have to re-create those document.
Finally thank you for your help and support.
