Hi Pete,
I wonder ... and I am not sure about this ... if this type of article posting doesn't enable a kind of short-cut to reputation "enhancement," and results in lower-quality articles.
On the other hand, I can see the view that if the article passes peer-review here, and is accepted for CP, then it has value ... or, at least as much value as most articles here (which, imho, is not too much value).
Fortunately, for every 100 articles that approach zero-meaningful-content there are one, or two, which are absolute gems

Sadly, I couldn't agree more. I approach my blog posts in the same way I write articles - is it something new that I'm teaching someone? In other words, the content has to be enlightening, but it's a blog posting because it's not long enough for an article.

If someone has a bunch of good content that isn't posted here and then they decide they do want to post it here, then it's all good. If they happen to get a ton of rep based on the articles and (hopefully) upvotes then even better.
Getting technical information out into the world helps everyone in the end.

Hi Chris,
I agree with what you said, completely. In fact, I've seen, over the years, many "classic" CP articles go on to become open-source projects on CodePlex, and GitHub, while the original article stays here, often updated frequently, and supported for years. In my mind those articles ... like Philip Pipers's ObjectListView, to name just one ... are "crown jewels"
My question in this specific case involves a spate of articles which I think have little value, are often just bare-bones re-wordings of MS documentation.
You may ask why I don't down-vote such articles; the answer is I simply don't want the hassle that may result from my identifying myself. If I think an article has value, and can be improved, I often do post comments with "gentle" suggestions.
cheers, Bill

If you don't wish to downvote then please use the reporting mechanism. Enough votes and the article is removed. Less than that and we'll find it and look at it on a case-by-case basis.

Thanks Sean,
Sorry - I went in and manually updated all the image links - shouldn't have done that, as now we can't see what the problem was!
But yes, they're all ok now.

Hi, I added my code project member id link -
<a href="http://www.codeproject.com/script/Articles/BlogFeedList.aspx?amid=9935684" rel="tag" style="display:none;">CodeProject</a> in some of my wordpress blog, so that those should be consumed by Code Project. But, till now, there is no news of those blogs/tips. No notification came for those posts.
Can anyone please help me out on the same. Thanks in advance for the help.

I think it may have to do with your entry length. The aggregator won't pull if entries are below 1000 words.

Sadly I think they may be too short. However, have you considered posting them as tips? They would make great Tips.

Hi, I have 2 articles that I'm trying to upload but it always stays marked as Draft.
I tried to open new article and just copy the raw html to it, but the result is the same.
As I click on publish button, it takes me to the page where the status of the article is shown as , Pendingbut as I return to my articles or reenter the article it gets back to Draft status.
Articles links:

Hello
I have the same problem while updating my article (http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/620154/UniversalSerializer[^]).
When I click on Publish, the server only returns to the page with no confirmation at all.
The page says 'You have an auto-saved draft version', not a pending page.
Note: I edited the article as HTML directly, as usual.

I am not able to recreate this issue. Where are you seeing the Draft status.
I can think of two things that might be causing confusion.
1- When you start editing a published version, a draft version is created to hold all the changes until you are satisfied with your edits and choose to hit the publish button. This is what you see when you re-enter your article through the menu selection "Article", "Submit an new article or tip".
The list shows any drafts that have been created and auto saved, and if they exist for a newly published article should be a copy of the published article for editing.
2- In the Article editor, there is a Save Draft button. This is not an indication of the status, but rather a way to manually save a draft copy of your working edits that is not ready to publish. The drafts should be auto-saved, but as programmers, we recognize that paranoia is a survival instinct.
If this does not reflect what you were seeing, please provide us with a detailed step by step, click by click, description of how you can re-create this issue. (Un)fortunately, we provide may ways to get to the same place so that everyone can work the way they prefer, and sometime one of the paths may have a glitch.
I see Sean has edited and published you articles.

I've the same issue.
Always I publish my article via the wizard, it creates 2 revisions, one with state "Pending" and a new one with state "Draft".
It is confusing, so I'm not sure whether my article is under review or not.

When you submit your article it will be in the "Pending" state until it's approved. If you fire up the submission wizard again and make any changes (but don't submit) then it will create a auto-saved Draft version.

This is the wrong place to ask this: this forum is concerned only with questions about article writing and the problems people get with that.
Please try again, posting your question here: http://www.codeproject.com/Questions/ask.aspx[^] and you should get a broader spectrum on answerers, and hoepfully a sensible answer.
But when you do, please try to give as much info as you can on the problem and what you are trying to do to fix it, why that doesn't work and so forth: Remember that we can't see your screen, access your HDD, or read your mind - so we only get what you tell us to work on! The better the info you give us, then better the solution we can give you.

I was directed to post to this discussion by OriginalGriff regarding an issue with a technical blog post. OG specifically hoped that Sean would be able to look into this.
I posted an article to my Blogger site two days ago. That was downloaded during the evening by CodeProject and showed up in my Technical Blogs list. I edited the article in CP because the Blogger formatting transfers poorly to CP, and I want the posts to look decent and be readable. When OriginalGriff reviewed the changes he noted in a comment that it was showing up in the "Articles" queue. You can read the commentary here: Processing SQL Server FILESTREAM Data, Part 4 - Readin' and Writin'. After some back-and-forth OG suspected something was amiss and suggested I post here.
Some other items that might be useful:
1. The post still shows under the heading "Technical Blogs" on my profile, so it doesn't seem to have become an article;
2. Two other blogs posts that got downloaded and that I edited did end up in the "Technical Articles" section, although I did nothing purposefully to trigger that;
3. I did have some problems saving the edits. I kept getting returned to the editing page when I tried to save, then the page would show an alert indicating I have unsaved changes. Actually had to redo some edits.
I hope this helps.
Bob Mc.
