There is a PHP port of these message boards, but IMHO they suck a*s...the author uses every bad technique in PHP possible

However you can use it as a template and start from there...

Threaded message boards are not easy...probably the most difficult PHP script I ever wrote...requires crazy recurssion (my design did anyways) and other rocket science type stuff... Smile | :)

jk...it's not that bad...

Other than CP I have never seen any nice looking threaded forums...always linear(???)...I imagine becuz it's more efficient, but not as easy on the eyes Smile | :)

2d arrays in ASP?

I'll hold my hand up now and say ASP is not my strong point, and I'm struggling to get my head around arrays in ASP. I'm currently trying to build a content management system which will allow people to add content to a hierachial structure.

In the database their is a sectionpath stored for each entry which shows the relationship to other items within the table, therefore the string returned could look like this: 0.1.17.30

What I then do is split the string and place in an array and build the a number of select menus as I loop through the array - in this instance 3, which will be labelled section0, section1, section2.

Obviously the sectionpath is different each time and the only way I could think to read the variables passed would be to parse the contents of the Request.Form collection in to a 2d array giving the fieldname and fieldvalue.

My problem is how do I loop through this 2d array and check whether a section has a null value??? Sorry if that was a bit long winded.

Code:
For ix = 1 to Request.Form.Count

fieldName = Request.Form.Key(ix)
fieldValue = Request.Form.Item(ix)

FormArray = Split(fieldValue, ", ", 1) ' split these and place in an array

Return what you want outputted to the browser. e.g. public string ClassADoSomething() and then from webform1.aspx.vb Response.Write (a.ClassADoSomething());.

You don't want to bind your classes to the medium unless they are specifically web classes in which case inherit the class as a control.

I want to display pictures stored in a database. First I use the following code(VB6) to save the picture to the database:

installing PERL modules

I do not have admin access to my site's web server, also I don't seem to be able to connect via telnet.

I need to load a new perl module to my personal /lib directory. Can this be done simply by running a CGI script somehow?

Seems like I should be able to run
#!/blah/bla/perl makeperl.pl LIB=/mylib

or something along those lines. Would this work right? Is there more required?

You should have the rights for installing additional modules. Why don't you just ask your web hosting provider to install it for you ?

I can understand why they don't give rights to the primary perl library to everyone.

I know it is possible to install below my ~ directory, but was wondering if I can do this via a script for simplicity. I can email my host, but I was curious how to solve the problem on my own. I'm not that familiar with the process of installing modules, and was hoping to learn a bit more about it, before having expectations that something should work, and get frustrated out of ignorance. Sigh | :sigh:

Hi,

I am having a japnese team site developed in sharepoint portal server 2003 with OS as Windows server 2003. It is on a laptop. I want to copy the site on another computer having SPS 2003 and Windows Server 2003. I took backup and restored on the new computer. Also copied the extra folders with dlls for custom web parts. However, when I open the site as http://localhost:300/sites/sales, error is shown as "File Not Found" and in address bar, there is error as http://localhost:300/sites/sales/_layouts/1041/error.aspx?ErrorText=List does not exist The page you selected contains a list that does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user. Click Home at the top of the page to return to your Web site.

What can be the reason. I have spent around 3 days on this issue . Please help.

I want to connect to a server that sends mp3-data to my server.

When I open a .asp or aspx I want to hear the sound sent from my server and not the server sending the data since that server is blocked for other IP-numbers.

I am using linux server and have all the certificates that I thik it might require. Only problem is I don't know how to make the https work. Any suggestions??? Where would I change it and what too????

Use the DOM, Luke. Smile | :)

You can use getElementById and if it returns a null object then the element does not exist. Everything on an HTML page is an element.

e.g. Use document.getElementById("mybutton") and then check if that returns a null.

You can use the vArguments parameter of the showmodaldialog call.

e.g.

iframe question ( scrolling )

I have an iframe included in my main page, the iframe is resized to "fit" the content.

if the iframe height is bigger than the current window, the browser show scrollbars for the main browser window, which is what I want.

however, if the "focus" is in the iframe, I can't page-up/down or use the cursors ( to move the page ) or the middle mouse button/scroll-wheel ...

is there a way to propagate the "focus" to include all elements ( or the main iframe ) ?

I have designed an intranet using FP2002. Using IIS, I have cataloged the site, and using an .aps page, am able to retrieve appicable pages based on my search criteria. Additionally within the catalog I have included two Directoies which point to folder locations on other servers. These folders contain .doc and .xls files. Once established, and the index function was ran, I am able to search from the IIS console, on the catalog, and return the correct .html, .doc, and .xls file results.

However....from my web page search criteria, and returned results, I am only pulling back hits on the .html files. It's as if the link between the SearchResults.asp page, and the directories in the catalog, is non-existent.

As a test, I moved some of the .doc and .xls files to the web server, re-ran the "Recalcalcuate Hyperlinks" tool in FP, and the documents appear as normal on the search page. No, I don't have the option of moving all the documents to the Web Server. I guess I'm trying to find out where that "missing link" is....Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Right well im knew to asp and i've just been given a project to change around an existing project, mainly this one file of 3000 lines of code but the variable names seems strange to me, they seem to start with letters and then a defination like "Bpopup" and "Atitle" and "SAttribute" i was wonderin if these stood for anything like s for server etc. Maybe im totally wrong but i just thought mayb there was a standard????????????
