If you make sure that you properly html encode all data coming from the user that you output, you are safe from script attacks.
Also, by default the web server is set not to accept any input that contains anything that can be html. You have to set ValidateRequest to false to disable this.

hi there,
acording to the error log, u can dig into event log to discover what the root cause is. First, I just suggest that u try to kill aspnet_wp process and then access ur website again.
if u need more info, this link might be useful for u

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm now going through the link http://www.codeproject.com/atl/ietoolbartutorial.asp that you have suggested. But I'm not a novice in VC++. It would be very kind if you can suggest some code in VB or in .NET Technology.
Thanks,

hi guys,
I am doing a class register on a website where i will generate a list of names of students from a database and alongside each name there will be three radio buttons labelled "Present", "Absent" and "Late".
Generating the list of names to come on the website is very easy, the problem is how do i connect the three radio buttons to the names so when for example the "present" radio button is checked for that student, it will register on the database that he is present on a specific date.
I can do it with fixed values, for example if there are fixed names of pupils i can always name the radio buttons and it's easy from there but the names are generated at random from a long list in the database.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've got 2 pages. one with the form on it and the second to do the "insert" into the database.
Here is the code for the 2 pages.
------------------------------------------------
page1.asp
------------------------------------------------
<%
sql = "Select * from tblstudent order by StudentID";
rs=myconn.Execute(sql);
while (!rs.eof)
{
%> <%=rs("StudentID")%>
| <%=rs("Name")%>
|
">
|
">
|
">
<%
rs.movenext();
}
rs.Close();
%>
|
------------------------------------------------
page2.asp
------------------------------------------------
<%
var StudentID = Request.form("StudentID");
var Present = Request.form("rbtnPresent");
var Absent = Request.form("rbtnAbsent");
var Late = Request.form("rbtnLate");
%>
<%
sql = "insert into tblattend (StudentID, Present, Absent, Late) ";
sql = sql + " values ('" + StudentID + "', " + Present + ", " + Absent + ", " + Late + ");" ;
rs=myconn.Execute(sql);
%>
Record added!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have all the connections to the database correct, nothing wrong on that side, just the radio buttons part. you have the code anyway, try it out with a database with 5 names just to test it.
This is last resort, i hope you can help
Thanks

Hey, I need help with my senior project, which is to create an alumni website for my high school. It's supposed to be like classmates.com, where people can log in and post information, pictures, and have message boards. As of right now, I know some simple HTML and I have no idea how to get started. Can somebody tell me what might be involved in starting and completing this project?

You need means of running code on the server to create the pages, like ASP/ASP.NET/PHP/JSP. You also need a database, like Access/MySQL/MSDE/SQL Server.

I hope you have a fair amount of time to do this. Every web site ends up as HTML, but anything dynamic requires use of a programming language to create rules for generating HTML. The easiest system to use IMO is ASP.NET, and there is a free version available for download, I believe, called Web Matrix ? Not sure on the details there, but while it's a steep learning curve from HTML, it's the easiest path, I would think. There's also a lot of people on this site who will be happy to help you if you get stuck.

Like what the others said.
Here is a PHP link which is a simple download and install to get up and running using PHP quickly.
It contains the entire LAMP setup - minus the Linux
Tip: You probably wanna download PHP version < 5...

I run a website which runs ASP.NET and I wanted to implement Google
Maps. But since there were no real .Net APIs I had to fall back on
using Google's AJAX syntax.
Since I am not much of a javascript programmer I decided to just make a
basic implementation and then pass the variables by XML or when I
render the map through the RegisterStartupScript.
By making use of the RegisterStartupScript I am able to call the
javascript from the code behind page.
I thought I would share it since it has taken care of a lot of
headaches for me.
Go to http://www.legad.org/tech/map. aspx to see how it works.
Go to http://www.legad.org/tech/text .aspx to see the underlying script.

Are you making a pron site ? :P
To add a pdf, just add a link to it, and store the file on the server. The browser handles the rest. I reckon the same is true of flash.

Hi,
I am creating a website using asp javascript.
Is there a way I can disable the Back button of the IE ??
Pls help.
|
|
|
|
|
Disabling the back button is considered a bad practice.
It's better to make the pages to expire content, for example, using something like Response.Expire

Currently, I need to have webpages for file sharing to a group of user. Some of them only have rights to read a excel file. Each file will have one owner who can edit and save an update one to a place.
For those can edit, I will use hyperlink to link that file.When user click, a windows will pop-up asking "open" or "Save"
For those can read-only, I would like to make a button for them. When they click that button, a new windows will pop and get that table from a particular excel file and "print" it to the new windows.
Is it possible to be finished by html? or other programming??Please provide the source if you have. Or please provide other solution for me. Thanks

As soon as you start to deal with rights, you're talking about a back end system like asp, php or asp.net. HTML will display what you tell it, it won't think about it.
