Hi,
I have a window from which I can open mutiple child windows. This child window in turn can open another window.Now I need to close all the child windows automatically when parent window is closed. How can i achieve this.
Thanks in Advance

Keep a record in every page of the windows that has been opened, and in the onunload event close all those windows. When you close a child window, the onunload event will be triggered in that window, and it will close all it's child windows.

I'm not exactly an expert on PHP, but I am reasonably fluent. I've got some PHP code (that I didn't write) that does something like this:
$tmp = split(":", $subject, 2);
$cmd = str_replace("$tmp[0]:", "", $subject);
My question is about the first parameter of the str_replace function call. I would think this should be like so:
$cmd = str_replace(<code>$tmp[0].":"</code>, "", $subject);
Is this just some bizarre php construct?

Yes. In that specific example it certainly looks cleaner the second way (and is more effecient), but basically using double quotes in a string means that PHP will interpret the contents as potentially containing variables. For simple variables this is easy enough:
echo "hello $world";
However, there's nothing stopping you including more complex variables. It's generally a lot nicer (and in some cases, essential) to separate them with curly brackets:
echo "hello {$world->data[0]}";

That's just stupid, and makes the code harder to read besides.

hi there,
is "<asp:calender>" and "<ajaxtoolkit:calender>" the same thing????
i saw in the asp.net/ajax official website about the sample calender control.
and in the calender properties it stated <ajaxtoolkit:calender>. but all i can find
in my toolbox in ajaxtookit is the calender extender control. there is a calender control
in the toolbox/standard though...

Hi,
the controls present with ajax tool kits are mostly control extenders means, it will extend the functionality present in existing asp.net server controls.
please check http://asp.net/AJAX/Control-Toolkit/Live/Calendar/Calendar.aspx for more information

yeah, that's the website that i'm talking abt.
are you saying that the sample in that site are merely extender??
there's 1 functionality in the calender sample(in that website)...that when i click the "month" name at the title bar of the calender..it will list all the months.
but i'm not able to achieve that functionality..
is it because i'm not using the extender that causes the problem.
thanx for the reply..

Hi,
Without using any third party controls you can convert .aspx page output to pdf format
In the .aspx page put response.contenttype to "application/pdf" , It should be the first line before any lines like @page language=C# or vb

Hi
Im using Fusion Charts.
My problem is that i have a page that generates a chart BUT the page itself does not seem to be able to store the value of a variable. Cos I want to print out the objects values in a panel next to the chart.
It looks like the Fusion Chart uses Javascript, i dont know if this is the problem here.
What i think could solve my problem was if i could create a page within a page. So ie. my panel could be in one page and the chart in another.Kind of like Outlook. If this will help, will someone please help me out with how to go about doing this??
here is my code,in case problem is with the code:
string username;<br />
username = Request.QueryString["Username"];<br />
lblUsername.Text = username;<br />
PCUserDetails[] userArray = dbComponent.GetWeeksUsage(username);<br />
<br />
string xmlData;<br />
xmlData = "<chart caption='MP3 Usage For the Week' labelDisplay='ROTATE' slantLabels='1' formatNumberScale='0'>";<br />
<br />
foreach (PCUserDetails user in userArray)<br />
{<br />
xmlData += "<set label='" + user.LogonDate + "' value='" + user.Mp3FileCount + "' />";<br />
<br />
}<br />
xmlData += "</chart>";<br />
<br />
return InfoSoftGlobal.FusionCharts.RenderChart("FusionCharts/Column3D.swf", "", xmlData, "CountMp3Week", "400", "300", false, false);<br />
}
Thanks

I got this weird problem
1....mysql_query("run a query");
2....check if mysql_query fail
3....yes fail
4....log the mysql_error
5....redirect using "Header('Location: http://mydomain.com');"
6....else (query success)
7....redirect using "Header('Location: http://yourdomain.com');"
the problem is in line 5, php will not redirect because there's line number 4.
If we removed line 4, the page will redirect correctly.
in this case there's no error on the log files.
can someone help me out? thanx

How do you log the error? You will only be able to log it directly to a file, not to the screen.

yes, I'm logging it into a file using error_log() function.

What is the differnce between window.alert() and alert() methods in javascript?
Neeraj Rawat

None, really - all you're doing in the former is specifying the object hierarchy, which may (or may not) save a nanosecond in execution time.

Thank you very much Fred.
