Get your users to install localized browsers. Those buttons are the business of the browser, not the page scripts running in it.

I am having an intermittent problem showing a new window from an ASP.NET page (and yes, they already chased me off the ASP.NET forum) with javascript. When a user clicks a linkbutton on my page, it should show BalanceReport.aspx with the accompanying parameters, instead it does nothing. It always works on my system (naturally), it usually works on another users' system, and it never works on yet another users' system. Apparently, no one has any popup blockers installed, but the user is in another city so I haven't verified that. In the Page_Load event I do some database stored procedure calls and fill a stringbuilder with HTML that is sent to the page. That seems to work. Javascript is enabled on our browsers (IE6 xpSp2). I am unsure where to look next.
In page_load:
const string cOnClientClickReportTemplate = "javascript:window.open('BalanceReport.aspx?CompPK={0}',";
const string cReportDialogArgs = "'newWindow','width=800,height=800,resizable=yes, menubar=yes,toolbar=yes');return false;";
lbtnReport.OnClientClick = String.Format(cOnClientClickReportTemplate, ViewState["CompPK"].ToString()) + cReportDialogArgs;
Any ideas? Thanks.
Someone's gotta be the last to know, but why is it always me?

Did the web browser show any exclamation symbol near the system tray or any information bars near the top when the link was clicked?

Nope, I'm not seeing any jscript errors. And like I said it works on other machines, just not this one.

I am still having a problem showing a new window with javascript. When a user clicks a linkbutton on my page, it should show BalanceReport.aspx with the accompanying parameters, instead it does nothing. It always works on my system (naturally), it always works on another users' system, and it never works on yet another users' system. In the Page_Load event I do some database stored procedure calls and fill a stringbuilder with HTML that is sent to the page in an asp:Literal control. That seems to work. Javascript is enabled on our browsers (IE6 xpSp2). There are no popup blockers on the suspect system, and other window.opens work. I am unsure where to look next.
This link works:
const string cOnClientClickTemplate = "javascript:window.open('ClaimPopup.aspx?CompPK={0}&ProviderName={1}&FundType={2}',";
const string cPopupDialogArgs = "'newWindow','width=500,height=450');return false;";
NewDiscClaim.OnClientClick = String.Format(cOnClientClickTemplate, ViewState["CompPK"].ToString (), ViewState["ProviderName"].ToString(), "disc") + cPopupDialogArgs;
This link does not work:
const string cOnClientClickReportTemplate = "javascript:window.open('BalanceReport.aspx?CompPK={0}',";
const string cReportDialogArgs = "'newWindow','width=800,height=800,resizable=yes, menubar=yes,toolbar=yes');return false;";
lbtnReport.OnClientClick = String.Format(cOnClientClickReportTemplate, ViewState["CompPK"].ToString()) + cReportDialogArgs;
Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi,
I am using following code for modalbox.
window.showModalDialog
but i want handle two modal boxes at a time.
I want know is it possible two modalbox for a HTML page, IE6.0.
If yes how to handle them.
Thanks in advance.

I doubt it. The idea of a modal dialog is to force the user to interact with that dialog and prevent interaction with any other component or window until the modal is closed. You may need to ask why you want to show 2 modals simultaneously and find a more useable alternative. Maybe make the modal window follow a wizard model.

One modal dialog is one modal dialog too many. What do you think two would be?
...ask yourself this: have you ever been browsing the web and stopped to think, "Hey, this is all just too easy - what i need right now is at least one dialog box that prevents me from navigating until i make it go away!"

Weird. The user has to dispose a modal dialog to proceed with any operation. Two concurrent modal dialogs would be a wild goose chase or impossible.

Hi,
Thanks for replying.
my issue is
I am working on web application in which i'm showing a pop up dialog as modal box. but when application is ideal for some time a lockscreen modal dialog appears. Thus I cannot access html page but i can access popup modal box which should not happen. lock screen is also a modalbox.
So i want to handle two modalbox.
please suggest if any alternative for this.
Thnaks in advance.

You can not do that in ASP.NET. You may like to have a Windows Service to do that for you.

I think you are missing SmtpServer . I don't see you have specified that.
"Legacy code" often differs from its suggested alternative by actually working and scaling.

HI,
Could anyone tell me the differences between using Ajax and javascript? I know that Ajax is built on top of javascript and Ajax is used for asynchronous calls. But all the backend process of Ajax are done using javascript. So what is the difference? Even though I googled the query, I didn't get a proper reply for the same.
Thanks,

You've just explained the difference. Ajax is a word that describes using JavaScript asynchronously, typically with unnecessary special effects.

You have a Javascript in the word AJAX itself.

Hi All.
Hope you would be able to help me, we have a site that has always worked without a hitch, and yesterday all the sites on our webserver went down. When I connected to the server and opened task manager I found the culprit, a process named DLLHosts.exe, so after bouncing the server 50 times, running virus scans and reg checks I finally decided to stop all sites and start them one by one. All started fine except for this one site, the moment it started the server cpu usage shot to 100%, causing all the other sites to time out and not display and the process DLLHosts.exe taking up all the cpu time. If I stop that site every mellowed down and the other sites started responding again and cpu usage dropping to 50%.
As I mentioned the site has been working fine and no updates were made to the site.
Has anyone here experienced something similar or have a possible solution.
Thanks in advance
