You can't run 1.1 and 3.5 sites on the same IIS, I don't think. Either way, .NET 3.5 is obviously not installed on your web server.

no the .net 3.5 is installed
is it gonna work if i used diffrenet application pool

If it's installed, then you must have the server set up to use 1.1 instead. What IIS is it ? The latest one lets you set the .NET version, otherwise you need to run aspnet_regiis -i in the .NET 3.5 folder.

Wow - I am looking and the program is not there for 3.5. I guess your only option is to configure it from IIS.

Like I said, if you configure your IIS for your 3.5 app, I don't expect your 1.1 apps will work anymore.

You cannot repeat CANNOT run .net 1.1 and .net 3.5 apps in the same application pool, they must use different pools, otherwise the first request the pool gets after a recycle will load whatever version of the runtime is required to the detrement of the other apps...
to get this to work you need to look under the ASP.NET tab of the website properties, and ensure that the dropdown there is set to 2.0 because .net 3.5 runs version 2 of the CLR. IF and ONLY IF that option is not present run asp_RegIIS from the .net 2 directory..something like Microsoft .Net->Framework->v2.0.xxxxxxx some big long number...if you run aspnet_regIIS with the -i switch it will set ALL web apps to version 2 causeing wierd behavior in your .net 1.1 apps(my boss did this to me a while ago) you can use a ? switch or look at msdn to figure out what switches you need...there is a way to just register the new version but not set any web apps to use it which is probably what you want.
while your in the Framework folder under windows make sure there is a v3.5xxx directory if not you have to download and install v 3.5
either way after that you just need to create a new app pool and assign your new web app to it in the home directory tab of the website properties...IF you are not running IIS 6 you might not need a new app pool in 5 or 5.1(xp) i dont think you can set up your own app pools. Hope thi shelps...i just did an upgrade for most of our sites from 1.1 to 3.5 a month or so ago and this is exactly what i did.

Hi all,
I hope some one can give me some advice on the problem I'm facing.
Here is some background:
I need to host a asp.net 3.5 website through a static IP and a not to common port over the internet. Currently I have a intranet site running on the company's network on a standard XP machine on IIS 5.1, no problem, low trafic. The internet site will also only manage low trafic for the time being.
The problem I found now is that IIS 5.1 on XP don't support more than one website on a different port. And also it does not support SSL very well. I'm running vista with IIS 6 that can support the multiple sites on different ports, but it seems SSL is also going to be a problem. I want to use a SSL certificate that I can create on my own, just to handle the encryption between the server and the clients, so to buy one from thawte is not a priority now.
The only thing I can think of is to get a Windows 2003 server web edition and manage the sites on that server.
I hope someone can give me some advice on this matter.
Is Win XP a lost case for this purpose?
Can I run the site on Win 2003 with my own SSL certificate?
Any other ideas would also be appreciated.
Kind regards

Hi all,
Ok, the IIS 6.0 Recource Kit toolkit did wonders, even though it states for working only on 6, i installed it and it's working on 5.1. SelfSSL works wonders
I would still like some advice on Windows server 2003 web edition, would this be the better way to go?
Kind regards

Do you have any experience using the webbrowser control in .NET?
I am having problems trying to handle click events in .NET
on HTML elements added programmatincally.
I am creating the HTML doc at runtime from data in a database
and I need to creat links that I can handle events for in .NET
so I can do things on the click event.
But I can create a element using Document.CreateElement("a")
and assign click event handler like this
anchor = _WebBrowser.Document.CreateElement("a");
anchor.InnerText = "Add Comment";
anchor.Id = "lnkAddComment";
anchor.SetAttribute("href", "#"); anchor.Click += new HtmlElementEventHandler(lnkAddComment_Click);
But in the event handler when you interrogate the sender object it gives
a generic "HtmlElement" as the source control and not the actual name
of the link that the click was initiated by.
Any ideas how I can handle events for programmatically created links??
