You're going to have to explain that: makes no sense.

Hi,
I have a button on a HTML page.
If i click that button I have to invoke "OpenFile" dialog.
Could any one assist please.
|
|
|
|
|
Use:
<input type="file" id="fileDialog" />
This would give you browse button on click of which Open File dialog would appear.

Hi Sandeep,
Is it posibile to add filters to the openfile dialog box?
|
|
|
|

Adding accept attribute could work but as W3 says[^], it's not properly handled by recent browsers.
Your best bet would be to handle it based on the file extension by yourself at the time of page submit or code behind.

Hi,
My Web site has some text fields, text area. I want the user to use an option of browsing the files and once he browses the files the contents of the file should be displayed in the textarea. Once the textarea is filled with the contents of the chosen file then I want to submit the form.
Language: JSP only but you can use any scripting language.
No pHp please.

Ethan

here asp, jsp or php none of them has to do anything.
You want to open and see your file in your browser. But browser don't allow accessing local file in the browser. what you can do?
you can write a simple code to post data to server and display it in your textarea:
<script>
function Upload()
{
$("#fileuploader").submit();
}
</script>
<form name=fileuploader id=fileuploader method=post action='webapp/lib/uploads/uploadelaox.php' enctype="multipart/form-data" target='UploadedFrame'>
<input type='file' name='csv' id='csv' onchange='Upload();' Title='Select File Name'>
</form>
<iframe id='UploadedFrame' style='display:none' onload='write_a_function_to_move_all_loaded_text_to_your_text_area()' name='UploadedFrame' ></iframe>
now in your server side verify and do the process to transfer data.

You can't create a pop up with PHP, you would need javascript to do that...
See this sample:
<form name='YourForm' action='check_and_pop.php' method='POST' enctype='application/x-www-form-urlencoded' onsubmit='return JS_verify();'>
In that form header in PHP you can see:
When you will send the form you will go to "check_and_pop.php" only if in the OnSubmit event the JS_verify() javascript function returns TRUE (I'm using a javascript function to verify the filds in the form).
In the check_and_pop.php file you can re-check the contents of the POST using PHP, this is a good option to ensure that you've checked everything even if javascript is disabled in the client side.
Once in the check_and_pop.php file you can show the message you want.
Good luck!

after you check that the post was made then exit php and run the js code for the alert box and echo in any dynamic content. then open php back up and continue with the rest of your query.. this error always occurred in php development so just try this one.

We have Indexed Db which Works Fine with Mozilla And chrome But It requires A web server
For it working.
Sq lite Aw sum concept But not supported BY Mozilla i dunno why.
Doesn't require Any web server .
Why cant anyone Come with a standard Protocol TO use a DB On a local Machine without the requirement of a SERVER....

Sqlite, Access, SqlCe. All serverless databases.
I do not understand your question, care to explain a bit?

I wanted TO use a DATABASE to store My data collected From User Into a Database Without net Connection And the HTML files being not hosted on some server.
So it can Be used anywhere and finally i can export my data to a file using some plugin which loops through the Records and gives and option which is save as On to the Disk.
But i cant get to figure out how.
Is Sq lite supported In Mozilla Firefox.And how can i use Access OR SQLCE from a offline HTML App without a server side Language

By creating a MHTML archive, and using VBScript to talk to the database. A bit more complex than using a server, and not a recommended technique.

If you want your app to be distributed and use a local database, you'll need to write a Windows-Application. Browsers navigate from page to page, meaning that they'll always be multiple files. You can zip those off course, but that does not help much either.
gaurish thakkar wrote: Is Sq lite supported In Mozilla Firefox.
FireFox is not a programming environment.

You don't. What kind of application are you trying to build exactly?
