Hi,
I have an ActiveX Control embedded in one of my webpage and the CodeBase attribute also has a Version stuff appended to it.
However, inspite of the stuff that when a newer version of the CAB is deployed in the same location and the CodeBase version tag is updated, Internet Explorer does not detect and download the newer version.
I have also ensured that my Internet Options say 'Check for newer version of the page -> Every visit to the page'.
Please advise...

I am trying to hide a datepicker when I select a value in a dropdownlist.
I am using the following code:
function hideDatePicker( DateImage, ddlStatus )
{
var dp = document.getElementById( DateImage );
var field = document.getElementById( ddlStatus );
if( typeof( dp ) != 'undefined' && typeof( field ) != 'undefined' )
if( field.value != '2' )
dp.style.display = 'none';
}
The asp.net code that I am using for the html page is:
Here is for DateImage:
asp:textbox id="tbxDateSigned" runat="server" ToolTip="Date Signed" AutoPostBack="True">

I can't find anything on the web that discusses scoping rules for variables and clases in PHP. Anyone know of a resource?

Scoping rules in PHP don't really exist...
PHP 5 supports private (and I believe protected, and public) but thats about it.
Anyways, check out the following...haven't looked at completely, but should help you out

' Type="ADO"
' DesigntimeType="ADO"

SERVER IN USA ME IN RSA
I do not know the physical (C:\ what ever) path on that server, but surely that should not be needed. The http:// path I put in I can see the files there if I type it in by hand each one, but the one does not pick the other up??? What to do?

There are a couple problems with your setup. First, you can't connect ADO through HTTP, which is what you are doing by using the URL (http://....). Granted, you can see the file when you type in its url, but that just allows you to download the database via your browser. HTTP doesn't have anything to do with ADO, which is what you use to get the data out of the file and into your page. You will have to use the actual file system path.
Here is how you can find the path to the folder your database is in. Make a file with the following code and place it in the same folder as your database and browse for it.
<%
longpath=Server.MapPath(".")
Response.Write(longpath)
%>
This will show you the full path to this file. Subtitute the filename of the database with the file name of the script, and there is your path to the database.
The second problem I see here is that you have published your database to a folder that is viewable to the entire world. This means that anyone could go to your site and download the entire database file. Perhaps your database does not have any sensitive data, but let's say for example that you had login names and passwords in it. Someone could download your database, open it, and have full access to your site. This is pretty poor security.
If I were you, I'd call up my hosting company and ask about a database folder which is outside of the document root, thus placing the database somewhere that only you can access it. They will also tell you the path to this folder, which solves your first problem as well.

Thanks.
I actually had my db in another folder and more secure but in utter frustration of it all not working moved it to the same folder just to get it working.
I will try this asap amnd get it working FIRST and then worry about the location and security. The server was also just built (because of my request) so I am not sure that it is all set up correctly on there side, but I am sure it must be
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE DETAILED ANSWER.

hi there,
because I dont have rational software to reproduce ur problem. So I just suggest a stupid solution below:
- use a tool to capture the picture (or using Print Screen) and then save it as an image file
- put it into html file
Hope this helps

Sorry, my telepathic abilities are a bit weak at the moment, so I can not remotely examine your code.
I think that you need to show the code you are using, otherwise you will only get wild guesses.

hi folks,
is it possible to define hotkeys for href-links in the html,
so the user may select them by simply pressing this keys ?
(w/o having to scroll through the whole page)

Hi there,
IMO, you can implement this functionality with the client side script. You basically need to do the things:
+ Capture when a key is pressed, you can create am event handler for the onkeydown[^]/onkeypress[^] events of the body element.
+ Based on the keyCode of the pressed key, you can get the appropriate link and take a proper action.
The sample code is something like:
function CaptureHotKey(e)
{
if (e.keyCode == 65)
{
var href = document.getElementById("link1");
href.focus();
}
....
}
....
<body onkeydown="CaptureHotKey(event);">
+ [Edit]You can also take a quick look at the ACCESSKEY Attribute | accessKey Property

hi there,
u can define a hotkey for href element. So user just simply press Alt+ character that u defined, then the link will get focus.
below is the sample code:
press Alt-C
Hope this helps

I'm trying to get an image from an Access database (which is stored as an OLE Object type) to appear, on the fly, when the page is built using ASP.
My ASP page looks like this:
<%<br />
var sProductId = Request("productId");<br />
if (sProductId == null || sProductId == "")<br />
{<br />
Response.End();<br />
}<br />
<br />
var rsImage = getRsUsingParams("procProductImages", sProductId);<br />
if (!rsImage.EOF)<br />
{<br />
Response.ContentType = "image/jpeg";<br />
Response.BinaryWrite(rsImage("fullsizeImage").Value);<br />
}<br />
else<br />
{<br />
Response.End();<br />
}<br />
<br />
rsImage.Close();<br />
rsImage = null;<br />
%>
But what I get back is an empty image placeholder - no picture. Has any one any ideas about what is happening? All the necessary include files are included and when I try this function in isolation I don't get any errors.
HELP!!

Hi is it possible to disable all the scripts inside a frame at runtime
i mean by using some form of javascript.
i have page1 which will disable all the tags when it load another page inside the IFrame.
One way is to put it the comments block around the block u want to disable
but i don't want this, i want do disable and then enable scripts in a Iframe at runtime
Thanks In Advance

hi there,
First, I'm sorry if I misunderstood ur mean. because javascript code can be dynamically generated at runtime, so u can do whatever u want in this case.
I mean u can enable/disable js by coding.
Thats what I think
