Hi all,
Recently I got to download and try out my app in the latest IE7 beta. Everything works fine except for a minor UI glitch - my control manipulates the DOM but apparently, the doc does not refresh until its forced to redraw due to some user actions (e.g. moving a window over it, etc).
Being a perfectionist , I tried to fix them from within my app by posting a WM_PAINT message to the doc to force the redraw. Well, it works for most cases EXCEPT if the contents being manipulated is in a DIV tag. *bummer*
This "written from scratch" browser better make good on its promise on security for causing me so much grief!
Ok, enough gripe. Anyone else having problems with this new browser update?

Hi,
I was wondering what is the difference between a Java servlet container (such as
Tomcat) and a Java application server (such as WebLogic)?
thank you

I don't think any one is going to answer this as this is a Microsoft platform site.
Try posting your question to a Java forum.

Hi, I have an application that I have developed that collects credit card information on a web page. The user clicks OK and it calls a .DLL to validate the card with the credit card processor. If the credit card used is a Commercial Credit card, the credit card processor will return a flag indicating to collect the commercial card data such as tax, and shipping information so it appears on the credit card statements. After the commercial card information is collected, the .DLL needs to be called again with the data filled in and the flag set to "true" so the data can be written to the journal file.
Where I'm stuck is on displaying the commercial card web page. I can do several different things. I have come up with the follow approaches and I'm sure someone else can come up with another. I just don't know which is the best way to approach this.
1. Store about 35 pieces of data in session variables, redirect the user to the commercial web page and on the POST of the commercial card screen call the .DLL to write it all the data to the journal file.
2. Store only the information not already available on the authorization web page in session variables, redirect the user to the commercial page, collect the data and on POST display the credit card authorization screen again making the user click OK for the 2nd time.
3. If I knew how to do this, I think this would be the best. After returning from Authorizing the credit card if the commercial indicator has beeen set by the DLL to collect more information, display a pop up window to collect the data. On the POST from the commercial web page, write the few pieces of commercial data to session variables and return to the Authorization logic where the pop up was issued, grab the data from the session variables and call the .DLL to write the data to the journal file.
4. I thought about having the commercial data on the authorization web page hidden and un-hide the fields and text if the commercial indicator is on, however the screen is already too long and I don't want to make the user scroll.
Number 3 is the best if I could figure out how to do it, number 1 isn't a bad substitute if that's the only solution, or is there something I haven't thought about.
Thank you,
Glenn

You generally can't close the main window without having the user to confirm it.
You can cheat some browsers to think that the window is opened by another window by setting the opener property, but that will probably be fixed in later versions.

Hi all,
I hv designed a page in html.and Iam working in MFC
Iam using CDHTMLViewSpec class.
I have designed 2 links in html as follows
<table width="100%">
<tr width="100%">
<td width = "100%"><font size="2" face="Tahoma">
<a id="Previous" class="Title" href="Previous.htm">Previous</a></font>
</td>
<td ><font size="2" face="Tahoma">
<a id="Next" href="Next.htm">Next</a></font></td>
</tr>
</table>
as u can see they are anchor tags I want to know how to enable or disable them at a perticular event. (Say when there is nothing in a list to show when user clicks Previous or Next).
Thank u all.

Hello!
I have a databse driven asp based web site. My aim is to hide a url address from the users (for downloding). However the file is under the directory when user go overs the link it shows up in the browsers' status bar.
Is there a way to hide the link information for the browsers and show only the file name after the local website name eg: www.abc.com\program.exe
The program.exe resides under another directory.
Thanks

I have a web app that collects barcode data. Presently it uses a form in an asp page having a field for input from the scanner. The scanner is set up so that it simulates typing the Enter key after the data which causes the page to reload, inserting the data into our database.
I want to modify this so that a subroutine on the same page gets called, instead of having the page reload. I tried pointing the form's ACTION attribute to my sub, but it never gets called; instead the page reloads. I also tried adding an OnChange attribute to the input field, but it only fires when the focus leaves the field, i.e. the user clicks somewhere outside the control. This won't work for barcode scanning.
Is this possible?
'til next we type...

One way to do this is to use the onsubmit event in the form. Call your function, then return false from the event to keep the form from posting:
<form ... onsubmit="MySub(); return false;">

Hi.
Im in the progress of selecting the right database for my new project.
I only have PHP/Mysql and ASP.net 2.0/MSsql experience.
So here comes some questions:
1. Can i use MySQL in my ASP.net 2.0 project as datasource for gridviews? just like mssql.
2. Can i use MS access instead of mssql/mysql? i've heard that it only takes a few dataconnections at a time, what is up with that?
I ask because i also want to choose my webprovider (web hotel) now. But most of them is expensive if i want mssql + asp.net 2.0
There is a lot of cheap solutions if i use asp.net 2.0 + access or myssql.
