Hello,
I'm trying to do an application for my pocket-pc in order to easily rename pictures, I don't know where to start for reading a jpg on pocket, any suggestion?
I've seen that CF's System.Drawing.Image doesn't have .FromFile, how can I do that?
Thanks

Hello All,
If I have a smartphone device, and say both the WAN and phone connection are connected to the network at the same time. How do you choose which connection to use in your application to connect to say, a webservice or something? I haven't even started developing yet, just trying to get a few questions answered.
Thanks in advance!

In my asp.net 1.1 mobile project I have two ListControl. In both ListControls, Items As Links property is true. I want to navigate from first card where I have first ListControl to second card where I have second ListControl in case of click on any LinkControl on first card. I have alredy bind the DataTextField of firstListControl to database. I have tried to pass the id of second card to DataValueField of first card. But it is giving an error. Can any one tell me what is the right way to navigate in between mobile cards/forms from links of ListControl.

Hello all.
I have a problem. I have a CDialog-derived class with one CEdit control. This class is catching the ON_EN_SETFOCUS and ON_EN_KILLFOCUS messages for such CEdit. What I want is to show the SIP (System Input Panel, that is, the little keyboard, if available) when the CEdit gets the focus, and hide it when it looses the focus. I have some research, and here's what I've got:
<br />
<br />
BEGIN_MESSAGE_MAP(CCapDescargaBatch, CDialog)<br />
ON_EN_SETFOCUS(IDC_EDIT_BATCH, OnSetFocusEditBatch)<br />
ON_EN_KILLFOCUS(IDC_EDIT_BATCH, OnKillFocusEditBatch)<br />
END_MESSAGE_MAP()<br />
<br />
... <br />
<br />
void CCapDescargaBatch::OnSetFocusEditBatch() <br />
{<br />
SipShowIM(SIPF_ON); <br />
}<br />
<br />
void CCapDescargaBatch::OnKillFocusEditBatch() <br />
{<br />
SipShowIM(SIPF_OFF); <br />
}<br />
<br />
I found that SipShowIM shows and hides the keyboard. However, when I click the CEdit, the keyboard appears for 2 secs and then it "disappears", as if it were not handling the WM_PAINT.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Regards,
FG.

Welcome to the fun that is the Windows Mobile/Pocket PC shell, where it thinks it knows better than you do.
If you're programming for Pocket PC/Windows Mobile, use SHSipPreference rather than SipShowIM . Also be aware that MFC calls numerous SHXxx APIs on your behalf, specifically SHInitDialog , SHHandleWMActivate and SHHandleWMSettingChange . To stop it doing this, set m_bFullScreen to FALSE in your dialog's constructor, then call SHInitDialog with your own preferences. Handle WM_ACTIVATE and WM_SETTINGCHANGE yourself if you want to avoid these methods being called - call CWnd::OnActivate or CWnd::OnSettingChange to pass the message down to DefWindowProc, avoiding the implementation in CDialog.
One of the values set in the call to SHInitDialog in the framework code is to put the SIP down (SHIDIF_SIPDOWN ); it could be that this is being called after the call to your OnSetFocusEditBatch function, or that using the old API does not clear the timer used by the shell to delay putting the SIP down. It may also be that using the API you're using doesn't send WM_SETTINGCHANGE and therefore your form is not resized when the SIP is dropped.
Stability. What an interesting concept. -- Chris Maunder

Hello, could you please help me with this:
I am porting a solution for PocketPC 2003 written in
eVC 4.0 (MFC) to Visual Studio 2005 (Visual Studio 8).
Now I recognized there is no CDumpContext in the MFC-Version in VS 2005? Why is this? When looking into afx.h, where CDunpContext was declarated for Embedded C++ 4.0, it does not belong to WinCE-devices:
#ifndef _WIN32_WCE
class CDumpContext
{
...
}
#endif
Is there any replacement for dumping?
Thanks a lot...

Hi,
there is an independent, free one called Openwave which seems to be pretty good. There is also a company called yospace which provides a number of different emulators for differnet phones.
I am searching for exactly something like yospace provides, i.e. mobile emulators/ simulators for different types of phones but for free. Does anybody know of a few emulators for different phones which are usable? I already found one for, for instance, 2 Nokia IMode phones here.
Thanks a million for your help.

Hi Everybody,
I have a serial driver using COM1: which does not recover after the device is put
into hybernation. Does anybody know how to set up and receive the correct
system messages so I can recover this. I know COM1 is being powered down and my
driver needs to re-attach to this device after coming out of hybernation.

Maybe I'm dim, but I cannot find any working samples of tooltips for CCommandBar in VS2005. I've even tried the MFC application wizard, and the code it generates doesn't seem to work.
Is anyone here with tooltips working willing to share the secret sauce?

Hi all,
I want to be able to copy and paste text into TextBox controls programmatically using command buttons. (Don't want to wait for edit menu!)
I found the following snippet but it gives me an error:
'Clipboard' is not a member of 'Forms'.
Am I missing a declaration or a reference?
Your help will be much appreciated.
========================================================
Namespace Clipboard
Public Class Clipboard
Public Function GetText() As String
Dim Text As String
If System.Windows.Forms.Clipboard.GetDataObject.GetDataPresent( _
System.Windows.Forms.DataFormats.Text) Then
Text=System.Windows.Forms.Clipboard.GetDataObject.GetData( _
System.Windows.Forms.DataFormats.Text)
End If
Return Text
End Function
Public Sub SetText(ByVal Text As String)
Dim oDataObject As New System.Windows.Forms.DataObject
oDataObject.SetData(System.Windows.Forms.DataFormats.Text,Text)
System.Windows.Forms.Clipboard.SetDataObject(oDataObject,True)
End Sub
End Class 'Clipboard
End NameSpace 'Clipboard

Mike,
Many thanks for your quick reply.
I have already struggled with that MSDN code over the last few days.
I paste it into my project as:
Public NotInheritable Class Clipboard
Private Sub button1_Click(sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs)
' Takes the selected text from a text box and puts it on the clipboard.
If textBox1.SelectedText <> "" Then
...
End Sub
End Class
and I get many error messages:
'SetDataObject' is not a member of 'MyApp.Clipboard'.
Type 'IDataObject' is not defined.
Name 'DataFormats' is not defined.
There is no information on that page about references, declarations, etc.
What am I missing?
Why can't MSDN have a working example?
I am using VS5 with Pocket PC SDK.
Thanks for your kind support.

Wow, Visual Studio 5 is pretty old. You should only need the standard Visual Basic references for the Clipboard support. VS5 may not support it for handheld development. Sorry I can't be more help.
