I am working on a ASP.net 2.0 website. I've set up a virtual directory thru iis on my machine and the site is functioning properly. Now, I copied all the aspx pages with the access database using my ftp login. I am recieving the following error:
Configuration Error
Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.
Parser Error Message: The format of the file 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.DebuggerVisualizers' is invalid.
Also, at end of the error message it says this:
Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:1.1.4322.2407; ASP.NET Version:1.1.4322.2407
I believe it should say 2.0. What am I doing wrong? How to correct this?

From where are you copying the file ?

The database is placed in the App_Data folder. The entire folder which contains all the .aspx, .cs, .mdb files are moved using the FTP login onto appsitehosting.com.

Does your hosting support ASP.NET 2.0? If they does then there should be option that you can switch from ASP.NET 1.1 to 2.0 in your hosting account. If you are not sure about option, you should contact with your hosting company..

Can I call a method in the parent page codebehind file from a user control?
In VFP I would do a This.Parent.MethodName([parameter List])
My user control gets a value, and I now with to pass this back to a method
that will update the parent form.
<br />
protected void SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
<br />
int tpiPk = int.Parse(GridView1.SelectedValue.ToString());<br />
RemoveGrid();<br />
Panel1.Visible = false;<br />
Session["AddressReturn"] = "hidden";<br />
iPk = tpiPk;<br />
RefreshPage(iPk);
<br />
<br />
}<br />
|
|
|
|
|
yes, if the method is public.
myPage obj = (myPage)this.parent;
obj.CallMethod();
You can also reference a control in the parent page.
Textbox txt = (Textbox)this.parent.findcontrl("txtId");
I didn't get any requirements for the signature

|
|
|
|
Could you point me to any examples where this methodology is used,
I'm a newbie at this so kind of picking it up as I go along.
|
|

It doesn't get any more straightforward than the example you were shown, but let me say that this approach sucks. It assumes that your control knows what it's parent page will be, and even if it's a custom base class, that's too much knowledge for a control to have of it's parent, it negates the use of controls. Instead, set up a delegate on the control which the parent can subscribe to.
