didnt work i already tried it.
please note that iam creating the datatable and gridview at run time
if your creating it at runtime make sure the code is in the page_load
make sure that you are def hiding the correct column, i.e. the correct number is in columns[X]
try
MyDS.Tables("Tablename").Columns(0).ColumnMapping = MappingType.Hidden
Thanks for replying but thats what i wrote in the very first post.
Your line of code was different in the first post
you need to make sure the column number is correct and that it is run in the correct place
apart from that your on your own
Dim gv As New GridView
dsSorted.Tables(0).Columns(6).ColumnMapping = MappingType.Hidden
dsSorted.Tables(0).Columns(7).ColumnMapping = MappingType.Hidden
dsSorted.AcceptChanges()
gv.DataSource = dsSorted
gv.DataBind()
that is what i wrote and no i didnt put it on page load cause iam adding several rows to that table at run time

You should be having some objective of the application right? Is this an academic project?

Well look closely at yur organisations processes and see if you can improve them
If not think of an area of technology where you have had a prblem before and see if you can find a viable solution to it

We have made our web application compactable with the tablet PC and we want to enter the data in text fields using the stylus as well as through the mouse (When i click on the TextBox a larger text field [Replacement for Tablet PC Input Panel which should take letters in digital Ink Format and should be converted to Typed Text Format For e.g. Arial, veranda] should be displayed to enter the data and the entered text should be copied in to the respective text field when we are finished).
Overall I need to make the textbox (editable fields) like an Tablet PC Input Panel...Instead of dragging it every time, which is time consuming.
Can you help me with this?

Hi
Are you storing images in db or image only image name in db.
It is easy if you store only image name and type in db.
Thanks.

Hi rahul,
The images are stored as Image DataType in SQL
I would also mention not to store images in the database as your database will become huge.
It would be better to store the file location in the database and grab that rather then the actual image.

I need to draft a technical spec for an ASP.NET project very quickly, and I would appreciate some input on what you, an ASP.NET developer, would use or like to see in the spec. I already have an informal spec as a set of PowerPoint slides, and quite frankly, this is more than enough for me to build the application, and I normally work very informally with something of an iterative approach with prototyping for small projects like this. I'm plain not used to drafting specs, and not that used to working in ASP.NET.
Yes, I'm actually asking a favour of my readers here, not to think for me, but just to help me thing in a suitable way to drop quickly get done with a formality and move on to delivering the first iteration.

When I worked for a big company, the spec would include a screenshot, a description of where the user had come from, what the main path of execution being described was, and what some edge cases ( what to do with bad input, etc ) looked like. They had a standard format they followed, so I quickly knew where to look for different things, and I imagine establishing a format would really help in writing it, too.
