Hello, everyone:
I am a newbie of asp.net. Now i am trying to use a datagrid to show a table with more than 2000 records to the web viewer with asp.net1.1. However, when displaying, it tells me that the process has taken more than 60% of the memory, the system calls back the resouce automatically. Finally the pages goes wrong.

You can use paging concept. There you will just show 25 or 50 records initially and then next set of records depending upon the requirement.

First of all, great thanks to u of replying!
However, i have to store query result in a datatable so that i could print or export these results latter. It is these query resutls that has taken out the resource, i think. Look forward to you further replying...;P

If it is required to get all the records in one stretch then also you can get the advantage of datagrid paging. What you need to do is to get the data in dataset and then assign it to the datagrid with paging enabled. Also the same you can have in the datatable. I hope i am understanding you problem correctly.

I want to add a text box when button is clicked. the problem that i am facing is that when i click the add button new textbox is created. but when i try to read the value of the textbox an exceptions occures that no textbox exist. If any one have idea send me a demo code in reply.

Hello!
Remember that the textbox is created pretty late in the event cycle - in the raise change events phase. The value can´t be accessed until after that. Try accessing the value in onPreRender and you should be fine.

A context menu is made using client script (e.g. Javascript), so ASP.NET doesn't really have anything to do with it.

Nothing is a stupid qn. I dont know which version u r using. You can achieve this by,
In the Design window, Select the Gridview and goto Properties. In that select Events....and Double Click on the appropiate enent u want from the left side event listing.

Hi!
I want to pass the value from one page to another page:
In my maker page i used datagrid and i hv to take that dg's row value (through., DataRowView) i transfered that value to nxt page:
Here in ItemDataBound event i wrote the coding for get the values to the DG's Row..
here i retrieve the value frm the DAtaRowView in a variable in a name as temp.
In ItemCommand Event i wroth that Response.Redirect("Models.aspx")
Now this temp value also transfer to that Models Page.., I tried the QueryString
like: Response.Redirect("Makers1.aspx?val="+temp); but its in Item Command event., but
that value in ItemDataBound Command so., It assigns only null value to that one..,
Here i can't use session also...
How can we solve this one...?

You can use command argument property to first set the value and then in itemcommand event you can access that value and use it.

suppose you are having an image button whose click event you are trying to capture in itemcommand event, then that image button will be having a property called command argument which you can set in the item bound event of the datagrid. And in itemcommand event you can access that command argument property, it will give you the corresponding value of that row.

I am newer. i want toretrieve that imagebutton's imageurl wheich is in the datagrid.
I can retrieve that value only in databound event using datarowview...
I want to pass this value to next page...
In item command event only i can use response.redirect... with the query string..
I tried as u say, commandargument in itemcommand event it shows only the null value..,
If possible send me the sample coding...,
And also for the Paging in datalist also...

suppose you are having an image button in a template column of datagrid, then this code you have to put in your onitembound event:
<br />
ImageButton ii = (ImageButton)e.Item.FindControl("imgbtn");<br />
ii.CommandArgument=drv[0].ToString();
here drv[0] is datarowview and the value which you need to put.
And in itemcommand event you can retrieve that value like this:
string str = e.CommandArgument.ToString();
