iam having table in sqlserver2000

rating fac_name fac_id

select avg(rating) from table
iam getting avg as 4 but i need to get 4.3
iam using c# in asp.net
suggestions would be highly appreciated

you rating data base field is int Type so this query give this problem

if do you want to get proper result like 4.30 format you have to change your data type of rating field <big>int to numeric</big> then you will get proper result.

you can use this query.

SELECT Round(AVG(rating),2)FROM table

You get the same data type as the type of the field that you are using the aggregate on. Cast the value to float before you use it:

select avg(cast(rating as float)) from table

hi,
i have to sort the products stored in the database depending on the selection in dropdownlist for ex.Price high to low ,low to high etc.
In this case, how should i identify which type of selection is done by user
i.e. which item is selected by user & On which event i have to write sorting code. Is it DrDwn_SelectedIndexChangedEvent()?

Hi yogita.

yes , you can do it on dd_selectedIndexChaged events and u have to keep autopostback = true.

Now, when user select item then u can get value of that item and u can change ur query string by this value. it will be easy if ur dropwdown items r fix.

sorry i forgot to ask one more doubt. Foe my project i am using the MS Access database initially and now planning to change to Sql Express 2005 free version . I am shifting MS Access database as it cant handle more users at a time. So i want to know whether the user capacity for the Sql Express is enough to handle the traffic? Please give me your valuable suggestions.

Haii Everybody,

Learning alot from this community and thanks alot for all those people who are helping me to build my strengths. I got a doubt regarding how i can add data to the dropdown list which is databounded ? For example i got a ddl_schools which gives out the options of the different schhols from the database. I want to add a option like "select one" to the beginning of the option list. How should i add that value? Should i do dynamically or static ? Please help me out with this

After a DataBind add an insert statement
Me.DropDownList1.Items.Insert(0, New ListItem("select one"))

or

Pull the data and items manually before adding the "select one" list item

I.E. something that can examine the project files and markup and themes, make a list of all the graphics referenced and compare it to all the graphics type files it finds in the web and list the ones not referenced in a file dialog where you could then select and delete them.

I ask because I have an graphics folder with hundreds of images in it that were basically copied from a corresponding winform application and I know I'm not using them all, I'd like to be able to weed out the unused ones without manually going through them one by one.

Damn, if only there were some developers around here with some time on their hands.

Seriously, I must see at least 3 posts a month from people asking about ideas for projects to work on and at least 2 posts a month from people looking for something that doesn't exist.

CP should have a wishlist type forum where people can post apps that they would like to see written.

Hi PPL,

I m using the VS 2005, i m trying to Create Wed From(In C#). In Design Time all Controls, i placed on wed-form r looks pity Good @ there point :(But When I Run IT, In IE, the Controls r not Displayed @ there points as I set them In Design Time. i don't know why so Cry | :((

. there is no Grid-Lines On Wed-From.

Invalid view state

In one of my applications, we get the "invalid view state" error when users are accessing it from Macintosh machines (OS X).

The question is, is it a known problem with Macintosh machines? Please note that the problem doesn't seem to happen for users with Windows machines.
