Hello all,
I have created a SharePoint website with several pages and installed features (xml files for the context menu). I would like to know how I can deploy it to antoher SharePoint server? What is the best way to do it? I am new to SharePoint web application. I am using SharePoint Services 2007 and visual studio 2008.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
Best regards,
Bin

There are shed loads of links about the IE6 needed to get the opacity fix for PNG images in IE6 (e.g.[^]), but does anybody know of a neat ASP.NET image control that handles this without the need to mod the CSS or run JS scripts (explicitly).
The hacks seem to work ok for static PNG, but I am dropping PNGs left right and center (not literally) on partial updates and the javscript hack is not playing ball with them.
Any ideas?

I added a dropdownlist to a gridview by turning category id into a insert template and binding it to sqldatasource control but it will not show the category id. any suggestions

Normally, when I have used dropdowns in a gridview, I use a templated column. This allows me to control when the dropdown is there. I would assume you only want the dropdown when the line is in edit mode. Then when the gridview is bound to the sqldatasource you just bind the text of the dropdown to the correct value.
Hope that helps.

I have an odd issue and I'm hoping there is a way to do what I want. I'd like to have any HTML (.html and .htm) files go through a templating process first. So if a user tries to go to http://test/test.htm the server gives them the file that's been processed and had a template applied (default.master). I want this to only work on one of the sites in IIS not all of them. I was trying to work with the 404 error redirects but since the file is there that won't work.
Basically when the server sees a .htm or .html I want it to redirect to TEST.aspx with the old path and name as part of the URL querrystring. The TEST.aspx will read the old file and remove everything before and after the body tags. Then put the remainder in between the Content tags of the aspx file which will let ASP.NET 2.0 process it and add the master page.
I think I explained this well, if not please ask questions.
Thanks

You should look at writing a HttpHandler[^] that handles requests for HTML files within your website.

I am not sure whether or not this is in the right forum. Feel free to move it if it is not.
I am having an issue formulating a form based file upload in HTML to an ASPX page on an IIS server. I am referencing RFC 1867 to get the appropriate syntax, and I guess RFC 1521 that outlines the MIME data streams. Here is the issue, the post itself is being formulated and works fine as long I do not add the filename="" parameter to the end of the content-disposition header. The second that filename="" parameter gets added to the content-disposition header for that particular parameter the ASPX page no longer recognizes it in the parameters collection. Is there something that I am doing wrong here?
Here is a sample of the syntax being sent.
WORKS:
Content-Disposition: form-data; name=""
DOES NOT WORK:
Content-Disposition: form-data; name=""; filename=""
Also, once this gets working I just have a couple other questions...
#1) What should be the "proper" Content-Type parameter value for an XML file? Content-Type: text/XML?
#2) If I send the Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 parameter, will the ASPX page barf?
#3) I am assuming that I can get the extended field parameter attributes somehow through ASPX, is this so?
Please help...

Presumably you mean download?

No I mean upload.
Isn't there something in HTML that looks like this < INPUT type = "file" >?

That is HTML.
If you are using ASP.NET 2.0, you can use the FileUpload[^]control to add file upload capabilities to your web page. .NET takes care of the low-level details for you.

I am not formulating this post using an HTML page. I am formulating it in C++ from a windows service. When I use the syntax provided to me in RFC 1867,the ASPX page does not add the parameter into the form parameters collection. So my question is, how do I get the ASPX page to add the parameter into the forms parameter collection? And how can I access the extended parameter attributes?

From my webservice class method i am returning an array of Person object When i run the webservice it crashes and says Person class doesn't have paramterless constructor. Although I have serialized Person class. But if i add a default constructor with no input values then i don't get this runtime error. Does anybody no why do i need to add a paramterless constructor. Please help me thanks
<br />
<br />
public Person[] Globe(string name)<br />
{<br />
Person p1 = new Person("p1);<br />
Person p2 = new Person("p2);<br />
<br />
Person[] p= new Person[2];<br />
p[0]=p1;<br />
p[1]=p2;<br />
<br />
return p <br />
}

You need to add a parameterless constructer to serialize the object for the web service. You don't have to put any code in the constructor but it has to exist. You also will not be able to have any read only properties for they can't be set when the object is serialized.
I didn't get any requirements for the signature

Thanks for answering. I am wondering is there any particular reason for adding a default parameter less constructor and the readonly properties. Is there any place I can depend on or lookinto to get further detailed idea.
Thank you

If i have a site with name abc.com and i want to use this site contents with other domain names like add.com, subtract.com using the database of abc.com. The add.com and subtract.com is my partners domains but i don't want they know the username and password of my database. How i can do that using ajax?
|
|

Your database connection string need to be stored somewhere, whether it be hard coded it your data access layer (a poor choose) or in a configuration file. The config file can be encrypted, thus preventing unwanted discovery.
Ajax is not the tools for this. Please do yourself a favor and research before throwing about names.

A while ago I posted a message regarding an ASP.NET (.NET 2.0) webstie I am working on for a client, which utilizes the Membership API. The problem was that a seemingly random contingent of the 400+ users are having password change/reset problems. Apparently the users change their passwords, and then after a period of time their login magically stops working.
The obvious answer is that the users making typos. Since I was using asymmetric encryption (and it's way too late to back out of that) in the Membership API, I added a mid-level plain-text data capture that captures all users' login/password-related data input into a table with the user's unique ID, timestamp, and summary of the action being performed -- essentially an audit log.
Through that log I have been able to verify the users are NOT making typos. In the most recent instance, I used the audit log to attempt to log in as the user myself using all passwords that had been associated with the account. NONE of the passwords seem to be valid.
Has anybody ever heard of the Membership API magically losing and/or corrupting passwords? Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
Thanks for your help.

The aspnet_membership table has several counters in it. Things like failed login attempts etc. What are you seeing there? One thing I have experienced, is some case sensitivity issues. Anyway, that is my only thoughts, what do the counters say and the passwords are case sensitive so that might be part of the issue.
Hope that helps.

Well I know it's not a case sensitivity problem. When I say the users are not making typos, I'm including case matching in that.
I'll get back to you on the aspnet_Membership table. Now that I need to get to the live database, the client's server isn't letting me RDP in....

There are a couple of different ways you can do it. It somewhat depends on what you want to do. If you want to take a look at the data you can ususally figure out the name of the html table, by checking your view source of your page then you can do something like:
var thisTable = document.getElementById('tablenamehere');
var lineNbr = "";
for (var i=0;i<thisTable.rows.length;i++)
{
lineNbr = thisTable.rows[i].cells[3].innerText;
}
My example assues that the line number was in column 4.
Hope that helps.
