I want to create a new custom web control by extending the 1)HTMLInputFile control and 2)File Upload control
The purpose of extending the control is to add the following functionalities not provided by the controls:
a.Selection of Folders
b.Retrieval of the folder path
Can someone tell me the proper way of doing it,so that I can drag it from the toolbox and use it.
I shall be grateful for this help.

Those controls render as an input element with type="file". The functionalty that you want to change is part of how that element works, and can't be changed.

How to main page from a popup window.
More Information
on main.aspx got a link button when you click the link button then it will open a popup window popup.aspx (i need it because i have to add information). when you close the popup.aspx then i need to refresh my main.aspx page automatically.
also is their any way without closing popup.aspx you cant use main.aspx

You can use window.opener.location.reload(true); to refresh the parent window.

I believe that Validation Group Control in ASP.NET 2.0 has been added to serve only this purpose. It is Possible.Each Validation control has a validationControl property. Use the Property to specify the validationGroup correctly.
Note : Button Control has a ValidationGroup Property to set the appropriate validation.

That's impossible.
If you don't want to use a file field, you have to use a component in the browser, that reads the file on the client computer and sends it to the server.

A project I deployed is not comming up after uploading. It shows the following error once requesed:

What could be the problem?

You delete the entire folder contents of c:\WINNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\carpscreens01\ and retry.
If the sample problem occurs then check in your code whether any such class is defined again.

Read the data from the database and save it as a file. It's really straight forward and no conversion needed.
Any specific problem with it?

hai all,
i had one grid view,in that grid view i have no.of columns,
i just want to decrese the distance between the columns.(eg,empno,ename,salary in three columns but the distance between the columns very large and it looks worst...i just wnat to decrease the distance between them)

I have a web page. This page contains a PlaceHolder and this placeholder brings or holds some links created by the admin at runtime. Not when we design the page i mean there is no exact no. of the links to be created by the admin. Let an admin create Four links like Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr.....
Now i want as the client clicks on Jan link then a panel or imageButton should display the image of month Jan and if he/she clicks on Feb link then image of Feb month should display

Write a common event handler like private void linkmonth_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)..
Now attach this eventhandler to the created links at runtime...
link1.Click += new EventHandler(linkmonth_Click);
link2.Click += new EventHandler(linkmonth_Click);
link3.Click += new EventHandler(linkmonth_Click);
......and so on...
Now in the event handler linkmonth_click, based on the sender object load the appropriate image and display...
Here at runtime the admin should add linkbutton instead of Html tag...
