Hey, this guid what is that?
Is this an id on the file like an unique id?
If yes how to make it?
can u make it to handle remote server
I got so many requests for remote access. But still it’s not possible. I hope I can make it with the next major release. But I can't promise, because MCMS PAPI doesn't provide any easier solution for remote access!
Thanks for your feedback,
Cheers,
Chester.

Have installed the latest MCMS Manager (I love it!) however have a strange problem.
When I edit a posting or it's properties (right-click on posting, say 'yes' to warning about publishing) I'm not presented with a 'save' button. For instance, I can change the values of the custom properties however I'm unable to save as there is no 'save' button - only an 'exit' button.
I'm logging in as an Adminstrator. I think I might have to download the code and then try and debug to find out the answer.
Anyhow, great work on a very useful tool.
PS Potential improvement - it would be great to improve the editing capabilities within MCMS manager so that there is a rich HTML edit tool.

Ignore this posting... I found that as soon as you edit the value the save button appears! Maybe it would be good to have the save button visible; yet disabled. As soon as you enter a value you could enable it. Just a little bit of usability feedback.
Thanks.

Regardless what I put into the "Server Name" for the logon screen, I get the message in the headline. Below is what my Site Manager is using, but that throws the same error.

Hi Marc,
I'm not sure whether I got your problem correctly. The error message states that the credentials you have provided are incorrect or the accocunt doesn't have the rights to get a CmsApplicationContext. The server name does't related with the credentials in any manner. So if your problem is as provided in the above then double check your credentials.
Eg of credentials
User Name : winnt://domain/name - winnt://itsweb-cmsauth/administrator
Password : ********
Cheers,
Chester
The point Im making is that regardless of what I have entered into the server text field, I get that error message. I could put a valid server name "http://kenmore" or something like "mybackyard" and get the same error message.
So, I can assume that its NOT THE CREDENTIALS since the error occurs regardless of the server its trying to pass the credentials to.

MCMS Manager can be only used from the machine where you have installed it. It can't be used remotely. The name of the server is used for some other purpose.
That makes sense then. Is there anyway you can build in remote access?
MCMS Publishing API doesn't provide any support for remote access. But Webservices can be used, which is not an easy task . I'm wondering whether it is achievable....

Firstly, great tool and very helpful - about time someone in the community did this!
Great use of the Enterprise Patterns for Configuration!
Suggestions:
1. Include a tree view for resources - I always need to be able to easily replace a resource of find out what the guid is.
2. Same for Templates - with ability to see which postings are dependant on it.
3. Ability to preview postings using that are within channels that have 'host header mapping' enabled.
For instance, I will have site1.com and site2.com as root channels. When using the context menu or a posting to 'Open in' it should use http://site1.com rather than http://localhost.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks.

Hi Chester, great manager.
Just some ideas to new features:
- refresh button
- name of the template a posting is based on.

Hi Jacob,
Thanks for your feedback!
I'll make sure to have these features added with the next release.

Hi Chester,
have you thought of an extended version of Search&Replace, like a global S&R? For example right click a channel, choose S&R and specify the search criteria as in the Search function for postings. But in addition specify the type of placeholders or a specific placeholder name you want to be searched and then apply the search/replace to the content of the matching placeholders? If no, maybe I am going to start working on it as it is something I need right know, I have to replace some content in XML placeholders in several 100 postings...
regards,
Wolfgang

Hi Austrian,
That is a good idea. But currently I'm working on creating a tool which can be used to create Custom Templates. Also I'm bit busy with my work. So I don’t have time to spend on this. When I get free time, I'll surely look into this.
Chester.

Hi Chester
I was wondering what the prerequisites for use of the tool are. I'm a site admin who only has Site Manager and its prereqs on my machine. I can install OK but when I try to load MCMS Manager I get an error. My developer who has the whole suite on his machine + VS.Net and its prereqs on his machine can use it.
This seems like a pretty useful tool that people like me site admins need, and not as neccessary for the developers. Is it possible to see a version that doesn't seem to require MCMS as a whole on your machine?
Regards
David
Hi David,
MCMS Manager uses Publishing API of MCMS. It is not possible to use Publishing API to access remote MCMS Servers. So to use this tool you must have it in the server where you have the server. I'm thinking of writing a web service to access remote MCMS server for this purpose. Anyway I’m not sure when I can finish this.
Thanks for your feedback,
Chester.

Hi Chester,
I just installed your app, look brilliant. Just one note though: we do have a lot of content in XML Placeholders (some several K of data) and the textarea is rather small when it comes to editing the content. Some scrollbars or a resizeable window would be great.
regards,
Wolfgang

Thanks again,
