Everything is written except the addition of the date in parentheses.

What do you mean by "addition of the date in parentheses"? It doesn't write date at all or doesn't write the second date?

The sample page and the description indicate that after the text is entered, pressing F9 adds the breakpoint and the appends the current date, shown in the sample with enclosing parentheses. When F9 is pressed again, presumably when the ToDo task is completed, it removes the breakpoint and appends the current date, again as shown in the sample, enclosed in parentheses.
During my tests, the breakpoints work as described but no dates are appended to the line.
And one little thing, the End Sub statement was missing from the WriteDate macro block

I see two possible reasons to that:
1) You have a mistake in the WriteDate() function:
"If ShortName="[filename]" Then"
Did you remember to replace [filename] with the name of the file? Make sure that it is also the file of the todo file, just as explained in the tutorial.
2) Did you remember to assign F9 to WriteDate() macro?

The macro body was cut and pasted from the website and the [path] and [filename] placeholders were customized for my system. The WriteDate macro was assigned to F9.
Testing a bit further I found that the ToDo macro works as described only if a VC++ project workspace is open. I initially tested the macro in DevStudio by opening a source file, not a project workspace, then activating the ToDo macro. Under those conditions, the behavior I reported occurs. But here's new one. First test was performed with VC++ 5.0 / Win95. Using VC++ 6.0 / WinNT 4.0 with the same scenario (with an open source file, not a project workspace), the dates are written correctly, but the breakpoints aren't set/cleared.
At any rate, the ToDo macro works as described as long as a project workspace is active.
Thanks for the quick reply.
