Personally I spend enough time at work that I dont want to spend more of my social time with (some annoying) colleagues when I could be having much more fun with my family.
Apart from that, no Social or fun things in Office hours, always out of hours.

Yes stupid events.... Especially when one chap thats on the events committee has a vested interest and always ensures he provides music at the events (at a cost to the social club)
Nothing fun though like XBOX Games for me tho

In our canteen we rock a pinball machine(creature of the black lagoon), foosball table, xbox 360 & PS2
In software dev dept. we have our very own PS 2 which we use for our DAILY Tekken 4 tournaments (internal & inter department)
Other than all the games, the software dev dpt goes out for breakfast once a week, as well as lunch once roughly every two weeks.

Lucky bastard!
We had foosball in cafeteria, but building management took it away and placed it on their floor where all important and "creative" people work.
I suck when it comes to playing foosball, but it used to be great stress relief.

We're battling on 2v2 or 4v4 with yelling and victorious expressions.
It's very social, except somehow for Zergs - which I play with - which are notoriously fat, gruesome and bad tempered (you can't chit chat with roaches, sorry to say)

Wish we would do that as a social event.

Becky by the water cooler telling everybody about last night's escapades and how drunk she got?
-- My company throws a Christmas party once a year which includes but not limited to 2 large pepperoni pizzas and some cheap soda from the dollar store.
Just along for the ride.

Weekly there'll be an ad-hoc lunch.
Every two or three weeks we have Pizza Friday; does what it says on the tin.
Energetic evening events have included laser quest, paint ball and go-carts; that's in the last six months.
Oh and one of the managers keeps suggesting we go out for beers because he's bored as his family lives in Hungary.

So if I want to party, I could.
But better than that, I can go make a BACON buttie whenever I want...

It never stops - well, coffee and cake for people leaving or arriving (especially students), new babies, weddings, round birthdays, promotions. Then once a year we have a grillfest; the firm is next to a big lake and they have a little barbecue hut you can book. Then most departments organise something fun, like paintballing or rafting. There is a small grant from the firm for this, and usually we pay a small amount so it breaks even.
It's actually a good place to work. In most departments people are friendly. I just brought a cake today to celebrate the damson harvest.

We have occasional cake on birthdays and shot of schnapps on special occasions (newborn child, graduation, newlyweds...).

We have some kind of event every three months or so, and it's is held during office hours. The events are organised by the social comittee. It's alwways something fun to do like paintball shooting, ten pin bowlling, etc.

I remember working at a certain DoD facility where we always had a good time in our office bar (with cold beer always on tap)... ...now I work for a private company and we hardly get anything...

couple of years ago, we had a good inoffice events like playing cards, chess, small indoor games on every friday(weekend).
but some fellows take its disadvantage, going home early. reason was not interested in events.
some are demands for outdoor events like, picnic/trip on every weekends.
from that onwords, Management come to a decision that there should not be any event on weekends.
and now occasionally we ROCKS
really, man is good at giving excuses and taking disadvantages

I would probably never attend a weekend event, my weekends are booked solid from now on. Did management think people have no hobbies or interests outside of work. No friends or family they would rather see than the people they spend 50+ hours per week with?
