Eric,

I've just gone through the process myself. I've reset the flag on my account, I log in, and I see this message when I view an article:

I click the "click here" button and I go to this page:

I check the checkbox and click "let's do this". I refresh, the message has gone.

I'm looking at your account and I see that you did this about 5 years ago. That message should not be being shown on your account.

I will email you directly and we can look at further options.

There are a lot of “senior” (gray haired) devs on here that have a lot of historic knowledge.

Maybe have a “Time Capsule” or History forum to capture some of these back stories.

It might work better as vignettes that could be added onto profiles.

Topics/teasers/prompts like:
First system you programmed?
Hardware/languages/tools/product delivered/pain points/etc

Repeat for second system, third system,

Linked in of out of date platforms?

Forum could possibly be platform centric where each original post could be one system. PDP-11, the Wang Guide, Apple Newton, C64, etc

Trying to view the comments for a closed spam account returns an empty list - eg: Member Comments[^]

That would seem to imply that the comments have all been deleted; but that's not the case. See the "[no name]" comment to this question[^], which currently only has one kick:

When you hover over a message in a forum, you get a grey line pointing back to a previous message. If the replied to message gets deleted, then that referencing line points all the way back to the top of the page. Occurs in Chrome and Firefox, both under Linux:

The parent shouldn't be deleted if it has children. Let me do a refresh and see if that fixes things.

I can't tell what the original posted message was, but the automatic conversion of the original link to a raw link that appears as a code block is ... odd.

I would leave the message there so you can see it, but someone is bound to either let it through (because of a lack of highlight) or delete it (because of the url).

Notification problem

Hi,

I do not receive any notification email for my articles althouh I suppose to.

Also, I always have a notification warning about: "We need your permission to email you (It's a CASL thing...).

You have my permission now. I want to receive notifications about any interractions on my articles.

Can you check on your articles' forums, at the top right, whether or not the Email Alerts box is filled out so you get alerts?

Every thing seems to be perfect. It is exactly as expected plus I also have "Replies to Posts" selected.
IT really seems to be a bug somewhere.
I changed my email and still don't receive anything.
ALSO: I still have the notification which I cannot remove : "We need your permission to ... CASL thing..."

Could you fix that?

Can you email me, I will give you my password and you will see what I'm talking about. Change my email for yours in my account and create notifications. Also see the notification that's always there about CASL things...

My question was legitimate and I had a link to code pen for the code. Someone just closed my question as spam. If they didn't know answer, they could have just moved along instead of being a jerk about it.
