It sounds like Redis is making Matthew want to pull his hair out.
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?
The metaphorical solid rear-end expulsions have impacted the metaphorical motorized bladed rotating air movement mechanism.
Do questions with multiple question marks annoy you???

Yeah, this is his now because I no longer have hair to pull out

So while I'm editing a page online, I go to zip up a file and replace my current deliverable with an updated version. It takes a little longer than expected - about 5 minutes because life intervened.
Anyway, *while* I'm still editing someone tried to download the file and the system couldn't find it.
So what it looks like at least, is at the time I had edited, between when I deleted the file and when I replaced it with a new one, the user could not get to the old file.
To bottom line it, from my observations (and correct me if i'm wrong)
Behavior: Deleting a file removes it from the available downloads immediately.
Expected behavior: Deleting an attached file does nothing to the public article until "Publish" is clicked.
I understand if there are some technical limitations to this, but maybe a little notice above the files section at the very least would be helpful.

We should clarify the UI.
When you upload a new version of a file while editing, the old version is still there and available. It needs to be for exactly the reason you described. You then submit your update and it goes to moderation. The old files are still there, but the new version will use the new versions of the files you uploaded. once your article is approved your new files then overwrite the old files and your new content overwrites the old content and the users see the new content and new files.

Then I don't know what happened here: CPPkg: Create Zips of Your Source Code From Visual Studio[^] (see Roger500's comments) he was trying to download while I edited and the system couldn't find the file. When I was done editing we both downloaded again no problem (i did it as a test)

Because you deleted the existing file Roger couldn't download it.

(Delete() + Upload (new)) != Update(file)
I suppose the behaviour might be different too

If there's an option to update the file in place, i must be missing it (i don't look that hard, tbf)

I wouldn't know. I didn't need the functionality. My only download is almost 13,5 years old and fast obsolete

Note the change in subject.
fwiw I've also had a rash of spurious QA filters for the last week or so, and various other "out of date cached stuff" annoyances.

It may have been due to an issue we seem to be having with Redis, or more likely our Redis client.
It appears to have corrected itself, but if it happens again, please provide a link to the offending article.

1. Lounge
Shows then and when an empty list of items
2. B&S
- Shows then and when an empty list of items
- Threads appears/disappears
3. Q&A filter changes very frequently to some selections (even I don't have defined a filter for it)

It looks like the Redis issue is back, combined with excessive load on the database server. I think we were being crawled by several search engines at the same time.
Things seem to have settled down, but I'll keep an eye on it.
Let me know if it happens again.

Comments in Q&A come and go one come and ...
And yes once again, still since about 1 year I don't get notifications when somebody answer a comment of mine in Q/A.
[Edit]
And just before seconds, my empty filter for Q/A changed again to some explicit topics.
[Edit1]
Just before it was something like "VB...whatever"
After writing "Edit" before it changed to "SQL-server-2000, SQL-Server-2005, SQL-CE, SQL, SQL-Server, DBA, MySQL, Oracle, SQL-Server-2008"
[Edit2]
This post was not visible after [Edit1]. Just after modify (add a space...) in the parent message this one appear immediately.

This is happening again, I am afraid. The comment gets posted (well actually it just disappears) but does not show on the question, even after refresh. But if I go to My Comments I can see it there. So I click View, and it takes me to the QA entry but the comment still does not show up.

I'm having the same problem! Anyone have a solution? I'm in the middle of a discussion with Luc and his messages and mine have all just mysteriously disappeared???

No solution - they must still exist in the data, somewhere, since they show on one's messages posting list. I even had a reply to a message - hit my mailbox and I clicked "The Lounge" link and it went to semi-nowhere.

There is something strange going on with our Redis server, or more likely the client that connects to it.
I seems to have corrected itself, but I'm going to keep my eye on this to if I can catch what is causing it.
