Can I access workitems via Project Portal?

I have to train some non-IT, non-Software people how to track DRs using the existing Team System. For obvious reasons, I don't want to install Visual Studio IDE or Team Explorer for them. Project Portal web interface is clearly a good option. However, I couldn't find where I can manage workitems on the Portal myself. Any suggestions are welcome.

A different option is Telerik's Work Item Manager.

Thanks. Our folks do not want another application, which just makes simple tasks more complcated. IMO, not being able to perform simple tasks on web portal is exactly where Microsoft failed.

We have some people that work on WorkItems directly from the web interface. I will get with them tomorrow and see what it is called. What version of TFS are you using?

Sorry for the delay. I know that we had people using the Web Portal for TFS back with 2005, but it still cost a license to get access. With TFS2008, they made the access with the web portal free. We are currently using 2008, but people did use it with 2005.

No problem. My understanding is you cannot use web portal to manage workitems. You can do it on TFS2008?

I was wrong. Yes, the web portal allows managing workitems. I'll post the details in my formal answer.

Finally, I figured out that TFS 2005 has a built-in web portal that allows us to manage workitems and queries. However, the web portal is not same as the project (web) portal redirected from within Visual Studio. In my case, it's "http://tfs:8090", which may vary depending on how your TFS was configured.
