how to add a .NET custom control into Visual Studio IDE (2005 to 2010)?

I created a .NET custom control for Visual Studio.NET.
I want to install this component programtically into Visual Studio.NET IDE (from 2005 to 2012 version).

I know I shall use custom action but can not find much useful information.
I want to use custom action in my installer program.

Can anyone share the knowledge with me?
