I'm going to be writing educational math software for a website. Some considerations I have when determining how to approach it:
1. function graphing capabilities
2. highly interactive
3. nice user interface - nice graphics
4. possibly using video, slides and animation

I wonder if Silverlight would be a good choice? Any suggestions? Anyone have favorite user interface on web?
Thanks for any help.

What is the hosting situation? Are there any hosting constraints?

Correct. This is the most important point. I would use Silverlight if hosting allows that, as I say in my answer.

All of the listed features are more or less feasible in different approached, but if you can use Silverlight, and if there are no technical limitations imposed by the hosting you use for using it — it would be my choice; well above all other options.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not aware of issues related to hosting a silverlight site. I thought this would involve a download of silverlight but otherwise be a non issue. Can you enlighten me on other considerations?
I personally suggest you to go with SL. As your UI requirement is high, you must go with SL. And I don't have much more idea about Metro Applications, kindly also check that out for the same.
