That is not the only common reason. Another reason is to access a site that in most browsers is blocked due to HSTS restrictions just because the certificate expired. The browsers are a bit too stupid and do not offer the traditional bypassing link. Instead, I am forced to change the OS time just for the browser to believe that the certificate did not expire, and let me in.
