Bernardo de Castilho co-founded VideoSoft in 1990. VideoSoft and Apex Software merged in the year 2000 to form ComponentOne, and Bernardo assumed the role of CTO.

Bernardo designed the popular FlexGrid control which is available for virtually every programming platform (including ActiveX, XAML, and now Javascript).

He got his Ph.D. in Engineering from UC Berkeley in 1992.
