I use Windows 7. When I print a *.txt file the first line printed is: URL for page in CR site. That is meaningless to me and is unwanted text on my printed page. Can I avoid having this line appear on my printed page?

How are you printing the file? What does the file actually contain? Share your code so that we can help

I think OP means printing HTML from a browser.

Only insofar as Notepad is a browser for text files. :D

Good point.

I am just doing what I think of as a very simple thing. I use Notepad, the simple text editing program that, I think, always comes with Windows. I type any letters and/or numerals. Notepad has a Print function under File on its main menu. I use that Print command to print the file. I expect to see the letters and/or numerals that I have typed. I do, but above them is this unwanted text that I mentioned. I am not making any use of a browser. My browser happens to be the usual one with Windows, Internet Explorer.

In Notepad, click File | Page setup ...
Clear the values from the Header and Footer text boxes.

Thanks to all who took the time to try to solve my problem. Special thanks to PIEBALDconsult, (Solution 3) that gave me the solution that worked, and gives me the incentive to look more closely at the range of features in Notepad. Consider this problem closed.
This is not a programming question. Have you tried Google.
Anyway it depends on your browser - see here:
