I am planning to use CCTV IP Cameras at the target end to capture target images from an outdoor shooting range (eight firers-eight targets). Will connect the cameras via switch & tfr data via OFC over a distance of 200 metres. Will keep a video server at the firing end.

Have to access the images from the Video Server and process them to extract the details of bullet hits on the target. Eight instances of such a program may run simultaneously.

Intend to make a front end displaying the running score and the latest frame from the camera for a selected firer. The score & firer details have to be stored in a database (for all eight firers of a firing session) to take prints later.

Am a novice at high level programming but can learn fast. I am bewildered at the software languages available. Need guidance on how to start and what platform to begin with.

Regards.

If this is a regular CCTV IP camera, you won't see the bullet at all. You need very, very high frame rate, which is hard to make. Do you know how to estimate this requirement. And where to start is totally up to you. Do you have any real questions?

Seriously, this is an ambitious project for someone who is bewildered at the software languages available.

You could start by looking at projects that do something similar - for example

this one[^]

Good luck!
